After the way Rodgers has been talking about suddenly having a tiny squad and so forth i nthe aftermath of the last day of the transfer window what do you think the club has been doing?
I have no idea WTF they've been doing. They can let Comolli spend £35m, feign shock and sack him, then let somebody or bodies unknown mess up a measly bid for Dempsey. The Titanic was steered better than this.
The only thing I can think of what they are doing is ensuring that they get value for money on whom they are paying money to. Yes the squad is short in terms of numbers but that can be rectified. I don't think there is many ''unwanted players'' left. Possibly just possibly, next summer we may see the opposite to this summer when there may be 4 departures and lets say 8 arrivals. This is between January and the end of next summers transfer window. My tips for the departures are: Doni Joe Cole Dani Pacheco. Andy Carroll. This is only eventually.
They had weeks and weeks in the summer transfer window to "rectify" the problems every single fan knew existed You seriously think there will be 8 arrivals?? More likely there will be 8 excuses about why January transfer window is "the wrong time to buy" then when the new manager is settling in next summer he will be so busy clearing out "deadwood" like Suarez, Agger, Pepe and Lucas that we'll conveniently forget/run out of time to buy replacements...again.
I never said there would be 8 arrivals in January, I was estimating that between January and 1st September next year. However I do think from now on, we'll be buying carefully. Kenny and Damien Comolli were a little frivolous with their spending.
I didn't say you did say that. Yes Comolli was a tad frivilous with the cheque book but let's not forget how much extra revenue is coming in (as people keep reminding me when licking FSGs collective ringpeice), how much we will save on wages from having half a squad and how much we'll get in in transfers over the next 12 months when all our best players decide to move to a club "with ambition". So happy days then right??? (Ps...I like the word frivilous...I apply it to FSG and their attitude towards sacking people).
I don't think FSG will sack Brendan Rodgers unless something really bad happens, like we're 20th in the table on New Years eve. Maybe just maybe, with the exception of 1-2 forwards, it was what Brendan Rodgers wanted himself. I read something a while back, that he works best with younger players. Its easier for him to get his message across. Maybe it was his idea that he wanted to introduce younger players rather than make a host of signings.
I read somwhere he let a good young England international forward go out on loan because a) he couldn't work with him and b) he had to slash the wage bill anyway. Oh and I feel sorry for any of our over 25s if he can't work with older players. I feel your theory has more holes than a 1977 Austin Allegro.
wow. didn't think this'd stimulate a big debate on overall policy. I think myself we might loan someone in from spain... (if you know what i mean) I do think though that Rodgers words since indiciate he was fuming no-one arrived on aug 31 and i have to wonder if the real targets were known necessarally. we've a ton of young kids, so many we are letting potentially prem standard players go... (ince, silva, etc) but we've brought through sterling now for their position. The issue i see is n'goo hasn't got the work rate yet to work for the full 90, morgan has not got the raw pace and the new boy has no english (maybe) all are young and we doon't see one standing out i nthe most urgent area we need. Its great to have wisdom and suso and such but we are relatviely well served in thier positions and the most serious issue we have at no 9 hasn't got a yuong man waiting his chance really. finally, dead wood..... cole, downing, carragher and right now enrique come to mind. whats going on with enrique i don't know.... carragher needs to retire, move to the academy and a youth coach and work his way up... downing is a thundering disgrace he's that sloppy and cole is a treatment room disaster. anyway... I think it'll be interesting to see what happens and the thought that it might relate to league position is kind of frightening as the words strategy and long term thinking are not dictated to by short term position. If we throw andother 30mil at the problem out of panic it'll be a car crash
Or alternatively (and I realise this is a foreign concept at Anfield these days) we could spend money AND spend it WISELY Now there's a thought eh. The biggest problem for me is that a rocky 6/12 months now after a summer of farce will mean the next two transfer windows will be spent replacing our better players rather than strengthening the current squad.
could happen. it'll be interesting to see the poll result and then i guess what'll happen in january if we don't buy someone in the first week... will fans go mad? skertl, agger, lucas, suarez = new contracts... gerrard is going nohere... allen is a new boy... so who will want to go Reina? given the fact he looks as weak as a sunday league player on his weak side at times and is looking like concentration is lacking the question must be who will offer big moeny for him and then will he stand up suddenly and do a torres.... who knows. What i can say is i feel safe enough for some players... i'd like to here sterling is on a long contract soon... but aside from that.... city, utd, chelsea, asrsenal won't want him so... real, barca? i think pepe will be waiting until the big spanish two move a keeper on/have one retire... I think if players move then the fees will be big.... that sort of thing...
I voted for butting a top player, can we get Zinedine Zidane to do the butting? And can the top player be Evra?
I voted for butting a top player, can we get Zinedine Zidane to do the butting? And can the top player be Evra? And since when is Suarez a Jew? I love the answer, there is just so much wrong with it! Other than that, my answer is not an option. I doubt the owners will go to the other extreme and be stupid in throwing money away by moving too early in the window. Unless they have negotiated a price before the window, and they are happy with it. I also don't think we will have a list yet, I think we will have a list in a month or so, but the scouts haven't been working for that long, and the owners new system has to be given a chance, and so any possible new targets will need to be pawed over by everyone involved. So my answer is: LFC will have a list at some point, and there will be players on that list, and come December, the money men will be in a position to talk to clubs and try and get a sensible deal. But to already have a list, when we don't even know how the current squad will shape up over the next 2 months is a bit daft.
Nobody is 100% certain what Suarez said to Evra, for all we know all Suarez could have said was ''Evra, there is a smell of wee off you''
