Hope he gets the help and support he needs, plenty more in Westminster with similar habits. Scoring party points only highlights the tory lead in the sleaze stakes.
Hey, at least they no longer use Nigerian government forces as their own personal hit squads to murder opponents of their operations, resulting in paying out an eight-figure settlement. Lowest bar imaginable, cleared!
Listen to a four and a half minute car crash as the new deputy chair of the Conservative party (yes he really is) shows how not to take part in a radio interview.
I wonder what the Guildford Four, Birmingham Six, Stefan Kiszco, Sally Clark and Derek Bentley (amongst others) might think of the idea? EDIT: Apologies, Stefan Kiszko. Deserves to be remembered correctly.
"Elsewhere in the Spectator interview, Anderson defended his much-reported earlier comments that most people who used food banks did so because they could not budget and shop properly. Anderson said he could make these arguments as he had been “a single parent for 17 years, with two boys”. He told the magazine: “I struggled. I know what it’s like to put your last fiver in the gas meter. I know what it’s like to have to sell your car because you can’t afford to run it – so I’ll take no lectures from anybody about being hard up and struggling for survival.” So it the same breath -almost- he reveals why he should completely understand why people use food banks. What did they eat after putting the last fiver in the meter?
People who have risen (if that's the right word) from humble backgrounds, are often deeply unsympathetic to people in circumstances they've managed to escape from. Especially those who, like 30p Lee, thought nothing of stepping on others on their way to the top.
Corruption and dubious morality in every party unfortunately . Labour have had plenty of dodgy buggers in the past, it's just not mattered as much because they've usually been opposition. Too many see politics as a route to wealth rather than actually being a public servant. Drain the swamp is a pretty fitting phrase for what needs to happen in British politics.
There is a direct and clear line of causation from the government's incessant stoking of the fires of anti-asylum-seeker rhetoric and the actual fires in the scenes below of the crowd outside an asylum hostel in Liverpool tonight baying for blood. These are people who have come here in a desperate attempt to be safe and our leaders have fanned the flames of hatred upon them. Awful. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be British.
The newly-spawned deputy chairman of the Conservative & Unionist Party continues to demonstrate the intellectual heft which got him the job:
