i have compiled what position we will get if we get 80 or 75 points. Then says how many points we need to become champions, achieve auto's and promotions. 80 points would get us: 2010/2011 - 3rd or 4th 2009/2010 - 3rd 2008/2009 - 3rd 2007/2008 - 2nd (1 point off top spot) 2006/2007 - 4th 2005/2006 - 4th or 5th 75 would get us: 2010/2011 - 6th 2009/2010 - 6th 2008/2009 - 6th 2007/2008 - 3rd 2006/2007 - 6th (this was us then, its what we got then) 2005/2006 - 6th or 7th points required to: C = Champion, A = Automatic Promotion, P = play offs 2010/2011 - C = 89 A = 81 P = 76 2009/2010 - C = 103 A = 80 P = 71 2008/2009 - C = 91 A = 81 P = 75 2007/2008 - C = 82 A = 76 P = 71 2006/2007 - C = 89 A = 85 P = 76 2005/2006 - C = 107 A = 91 P = 76 Sorry if this has already been done
In that case, I say we aim to win every game. But, not get too high when we do, or get too low when we don't. That'll do pig, that'll do.
Can never have too many stats as long as they all suggest that we may get promotion. Top at Christmas meant promotion 5 out of the last 6 seasons , but also meant that 1 team didn't . Consistency at home and an improvement in away form and we're home and hosed. Still a way to go though, but we're top of the League and having fun
The remaining games include some v winnable at home but some toughies away. Do your own sums and decide HOME AWAY Bristol C Brighton Leicester Forest Cardiff Birmingham Burnley West Ham Derby Watford Ipswich Leeds Barnsley Millwall Doncaster Hull Pompey Blackpool Reading Palace Coventry Peterbro Middlesbro If we can pick up 27 pts from home games which is realistic and 15 from 36 possible away we will do it probably as champs as i say there are some hard away games but against teams who will play football and against sides whos own expectations are high could suit us better i feel. either way it looks like an exciting run in .An unlikely but dream scenario would be clinching automatic promotion by hammering the skates in April .
We have to start getting those points away from home. The difference between our home and away form is ridiculous...not all matches can be played on the carpet of SMS, we have to learn to play on narrower or less benign pitches. It's not as if they travel without support, is it? Still it's lovely to never see them lose at home.
