If we believe the press we have 20 mill to invest in the team from AC money and the rest goes on the new signings wages. SO isn`t there money to invest from SKY revenue as well ? Any thoughts
Magicbus, people seem to be happy with Ashley effectively reinvesting nothing in the summer. If we'd kept Carroll would people genuinely be happy with spending nothing? I wouldn't. And considering we're spending ã35 million on signings AND wages, surely Carroll's wages should come into play? I think we're getting scammed here. Not by loads, but enough to stunt our growth a bit
Wouldn't a portion of Carrolls wages already be on Tiotes new contract and possible Nolans & Bartons(if they sign).
I thought of this myself - this is when Ashley will begin to skim money off the top I think. If he ackowleges it, and begins to chip away at the ã100m he reportedly invested interest free, then I can accept it, until that loan is gone, no-one will come in and buy us! If however, the money simply disappears in 'running costs' I'll be more than slightly ****ed off!
And what happens to the money we will make from the Enrique sale? Does that make it 20mil plus or more likely its 20mil including the enrique sale. We take in about an extra 40mil in tv revenue as well, but I guess that will help fund under soil heating and soap for the training ground toilets or some bullshit. As Keegan said, 'the best day for Newcastle will be when the current owner leaves'. Nothing that has said or been done subsequently has made me disagree with Keegans comment
Urgh. Enrique's not sold at the moment so there is no money to spend from "his sale". Yes we pull in ãXXm of other revenue...how do you think the players we currently have at the moment get paid? And the rest of the staff, and the club pays for utilities, facilities etc etc. Why don't people stop bitching and moaning about "Oh, we're not going to see the money" "Oh everyone's going to leave in the summer"! Yes MA has acted like a twat and don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly a fan of his but lets at least leave all the negativity until the summer has panned out?! Even a blind wombat could see the squad is wafer-thin so I reckon the bloke who's money is on the line will be able to see that too.
I don't think we're a million miles away from being a team capable of playing in Europe, imo we need a left back (if/when Jose goes), a right back, a quality striker and better competition for the wings than we already have. If we shift out Smith, Campbell, Perch and Xisco that'll free up around 150k/week in wages which is a huge amount to be spending on players who aren't even good enough to be on the bench, and use the money from the Carroll sale to buy in 3 or 4 top quality players then we should have a competitive squad next year. Ben Arfa and Gosling are already going to be like new signings next year, if we sign Ireland we'll have more than enough quality in the middle of the park to cover injuries etc. and I think we should focus on quality rather than quantity this summer and invest the money we have wisely
Spot on! We can speculate until the cows come home about how much money we will have in the summer but none of that is going to get us any closer to the truth. Keep the faith and wait and see. And yes MA must know that he needs to invest, the last two games have proven beyond doubt that our squad is barely adequate for the job.
