Luke Rodgers has just been seen leaving Fratton Park with a bag - and he tweeted a goodbye. No reason given so far.
....and so it begins..... Don't forget the entire [non-loan] playing staff are on one month contracts and were hand picked by Appy. My glass is ever so half empty at the moment.
Does anyone remember Paul Hall? He spent 5 (happy) years at Pompey from 1993-1998. He's currently coaching at Tamworth. Anyway, he's sent his CV to Pompey.
Paul Hall was a good little winger, I remember him well. There was talk of both Shrewsbury and Brentford showing interest in Luke Rodgers, as well as the player being quoted as saying he was returning to play in the USA in January now he has apparently sorted out his visa problems.
Sorry 3rd eye, didn't see that you had already said about Paul Hall. I just said something similar on one of the other threads.
Luke Rodgers has gone back to the Shrews, his first club, initially on loan then permanent from January. Josh Thompson - the one who tore up his contract with Celtic to join us - has been sent out on a similar deal, to Colchester.
It looks likely that Christian Jolley will be joining us on loan. He is a striker with AFC Wimbledon - 24 years old, but doesn't look as though he's a prolific goal scorer although he's often used as a winger.
I really feel for you guys. Your club is barely managing to stay alive and yet the fans are still prepared to continue. Soon hopefully your traumas will ease and you can wake up knowing that you are back on an even keel.
I've not heard of him before. As long as he isn't the same Mr Jolley from that dark comedy on T.V. - 'Psychoville' - it will be o.k.
I said when he went to Leicester that Futacs would regret it. He left us where he would likely have played every game in the first team to go and sit on their bench and play in their reserves. It wasn't the way to go to improve his career - his bank account undoubtedly, but not his career.
From what I understand it was less that he left and more that he was pushed out for the payment. Apparently the only one that Appleton really wanted rid of was Tal Ben Haim - and he was almost the last to go.
So, according to SSN, it looks as though we are going for a loan (with view to permanent deal) with 33 year old Swindon striker Paul Benson. This is a strange one as he wears their number 9 shirt.
And we're going to lose Mikkel Anderson as his 93 day emergency loan period is up next week. Although he was set for a season long loan we couldn't sign him beyond the month by month contracts. He seemed to be really enjoying himself here, especially as he was getting to play games.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, a 20 year old winger has also joined, on loan, from Peterborough. Looks like he's been a naughty lad though - he was fined and transfer listed following a breach of club discipline. Perhaps Corporal punishment can instill a new sense of discipline in him
Probably have him running on the spot, and doing 40 press-ups, for 30 minutes before kick off - the naughty scallywag
Didn't one of Guy's predecessors have them carrying 30lb bags of pebbles on their backs for a long run down Southsea beach? Can't remember the name (before my time).
