End of the season will be a mass exodus, with so many contracts running out, goodbye and good riddance, maybe only Bardo and Colback even worth considering keeping, but even if they go, oh well.

Now turn your attention to the players who will still be under contract. Who of those remaining will be off, who will stay?

    1. Relegated or survived, gone Johnson, Giach, Mannone

    2. Relegated, as above plus Catts.

This is just my opinion, and maybe wide of the mark,

The squad will be thread bare if we go down and it will be massive upheaval for whoever is boss. Hopefully Poyet but I think there'll be job offers for him.

Mannone will want premier league football and has proved hImself, think we'll get around 3-4m for him. We'll need Brown and Oshea off the wage even with even with the 40% clause.
Johnson will go for around £5m, Scocco a few million back to Argentina, Giaccherini a few million back to Italy. Altidore probably a few million to an Mls side. .We'll have to take a huge loss on Fletcher but id get rid whilst we can get anything tbh.

Bizarrely it looks a canny project rebuilding the squad. With the potential transfer fees, wages freed up and parachute payments I reckon we could have a decent kitty to re shape the squad.

Do we need to take a step back to move forward. If we stay up all I see is another dozen players coming in that aren't any better than what'll go and a relegation dog fight.

Stop playing all the players out of contract and play people who actually give a f*ck.

Where's Ba gone? Get Giacch, Verghini and a couple of U21s in. If we go down we are expecting it if we stay up our players have gained valuable experience. Plus the added bonus of the current crop of tossers not mouthing off in the media then f*cking up on the pitch.

    Like this?

And midfielder Seb Larsson, part of a double substitution five minutes before half-time, says that was necessary after making the honest admission that Norwich were more hungry for the three points than Sunderland.

“We had a very good honest chat afterwards and I think the bottom line was that we didn’t show we wanted it enough,” said Larsson.

“Whatever is said in the dressing room stays there. But we had a good honest chat and that’s what you need from time to time.

“It sounds bad, but I think Norwich wanted it more than us. It came down to desire.

“At this stage of the season, if you don’t have the desire to do what is needed to pick up points, you’re going to struggle. Let’s find that desire very, very quickly.

“I don’t know why that was. I’d like to have the answer.

“I don’t know if the big question is why. I think it’s more realising that that’s the case and making sure that it never happens again because it can’t.

    “You can’t hide.

“I think the fans that traveled down had every right to be very disappointed with what they saw.”

Larsson admits the only positive to emerge from the trip to Norfolk was that Sunderland’s league position didn’t worsen significantly after the other five members of the bottom six all suffered defeats too.

Would Alfie still not be ours? If we stayed up surely Mannone would still be under contract. Is Verghini ours or a loan?

I mentioned him on another thread & he`s still ours (for now). So is Vergini.

    Why Pickford? Westy fit? Ustari?

    Cabral?

    Get the development squad developed.

    Virgini's on loan.

I would have thought anybody we've signed this season (if they're any good) will have a relegation release clause in their contract.

I'd forgotten all about Cabral - can't see him coming back to play in the Championship.
