SCHMEICHEL - 8.5 - Wasn't to blame for either goal and made some good saves. Didn't have that much to do overall but what he did he did very well. PANTSIL - 6.5 - Hit and miss. Defended well but gave the ball away too often, crossing was appalling MILLS - 4 - Defended reasonably well but his hoofball is not what I want to see. Aimless long balls hampered us big time. With the pressure on him for being an expensive signing, playing his first home league game, against his former Club who's fans were desperate for him to have a shocker, I'm amazed Sven has put even more pressure on a 24 year old by making him captain. BAMBA - 9.5 - We really need to keep him, an absolute beast, faultless performance. £250K is looking a lot better than the £5m for Mills. KONCHESKY - 7 - Much like the Coventry game, defended well but whenever he looked uo he had little ahead of him. ABE - 2 - Shouldn't even make the bench on Wednesday. FERNANDES - 9.5 - Another tenacious and brilliant display, looks a class above. WELLENS - 7.5 - Used the ball well but had a pitiful lack of options, he had no chance of picking a killer pass. DANNS - 5 - Played out of position and it showed. Chased it down and tackled well, showed a lot of committment, but his passing was poor and he didn't really create much. SCHLUPP - 5 - Looked very exciting early on and at the very least he can skin a player for pace. Sadly I think the occassion was too much for him, he was hesitant on the ball and inexplicably kicked it out for a throw in. Would still stick him on the bench. In fact **** it, start him again, who else have we got to play in a front 3? I'm not having Dyer in FFS. NUGENT - 7 - Was again unlucky to hit the post, tried his best and had **** all to work with. I think we need someone quicker in the centre though Subs King - 4 - Couldn't do anything right Gallagher - 5 - Couldn't make an impact Waghorn - 5 - As above, shcoking free kicks and corners. Atmosphere - 7 - We were pretty good in the first half, can't expect much after they scored with no encouragement. Reading fans were awful for most of it, got very little time for them tbh. Heard on the radio someone accusing us of booing - utter bollocks. Ref - 6 - Made some shocking decisions but that happens everyweek, we've had far worse. Abe and Danns need to be dropped for the next game, King and Gallagher need to come in. Mills needs to play it short every time. We need a ****ing striker and winger ASAP.
Agree with your assessment, Schmeichel, Fernandes & Bamba were our stand out players. Abe had a shocker, Mills was suspect, Schlupp the occasion got to him and as for Waggy plays with no confidence.
Whilst I agree with some of the ratings, personally I think you are being harsh on Abe he put some good tackles in defensively, but him and Wellens don't gel in midfield as they are both the same type of player. Schlupp struggled he will play better with wingers as he proved on Tuesday at Rotherham when Gallagher and Waghorn took the pressure of him. I would prefer to have someone with passion as captain and judging by today that should be either Bamba or Schmeichel.
You are really overrating some players - of a 1-10 scale 6 is average, 7 is doing what they should be doing, 8 very good, 9 excellent and 10 greatest performance ever. More or less agree with your comments. SCHMEICHEL - 7 - Wasn't to blame for either goal and made some good saves. Didn't have that much to do overall but what he did he did good enough. PANTSIL - 5 - Hit and miss. Defended well enough but gave the ball away too often, crossing was appalling. Could blame not having a proper preseason? MILLS - 4 - Very poor - was captain because he was captain of Reading but looks like the pressure got to him. BAMBA - 7 - did what he should be doing. KONCHESKY - 6 - also did what he should be doing but nothing special. ABE - 3 - Sounded like he was shot to hell, why didn't Sven or any of his team pick up on that? FERNANDES - 7 - did what he should be doing. WELLENS - 6 - Always trying for the killer pass instead of building up the pressure. DANNS - 5 - Didn't do what we know he can do - will blame it on being out of position. SCHLUPP - 5 - Out of poisition and when he was put in it ineffectual. NUGENT - 6 - Shouldn't be playing up front by himself. Did hit the post again. Subs King - 5 - one good shot but really nothing else. Gallagher - 5 - did bugger all Waghorn - 4 - Did bugger all except waste chances Atmosphere - 7 - We sounded good and we did boo the team off at the end. No problem with Reading's chants about Mills - if we ever play WBA I expect us to be even worse with Mattock. Ref - 6 - Average - did well to keep his cards in his pockets for most of the match.
schemichel 9.5 = showed passion that no one else had today bamba 9.5 = played very well. fernandes 9 = played very well but didnt have anyone pass to everyone else under 5, all poor and very average.
I thought Fernandes and Bamba were excellent myself so that's why I gave them 9, but that's just my opinion. I don't have a problem with Reading's chants to Mills at all (yet quite why they hate him I'm not sure) I just think they're a poor bunch of fans, they were all sitting for the first hour and away sections should not be outsung by the home fans. Obviously they are going to pipe up when they are winning but before that they were shocking. We booed at the final whistle - as do every group of fans when their team has lost. It wasn't a prolonged booing like the Ricardo debacle last season, it was a short disgruntled boo. When the players came over to clap we clappped them back. I will admit when our fans are out of order but some people on Radio Leicester were making a mountain out of a molehill.
Sorry I can't agree, Wellens is a creative, passing midfielder who can also get stuck in. Abe, on a good day, just gets stuck in. Today he tried but looked knackered very early on. He constantly got caught on the ball or passed it out of play or to a Reading player. Wehn we attacked he offered no support or runs forward because he's not that type of player. We struggled to create with so many deep midfielders. My problem with him is even on a good day (and he is very inconsistent) he doesn't make a difference. We know have Fernandes who scurries around and wins the ball and he's brilliant at that. We don't need Abe to do it too, especially when he's not nearly as good at it. We need to be playing attacking, creative players - like King. Abe is a decent footballer on his day but not influential enough to play for a promotion chasing team. My strong comments stem from frustration that he keeps getting in yet has little positive effect. He is a waste of a player when we are trying to score goals. Pearson was criticised for being too negative but Sven is easily as negative at the moment. Pearson was also criticised for playing players out of position, yet Sven is doing that. Hobbs was criticised for not being able to pass, yet Mills is even worse. Now I loved Pearson't team but I was expecting us to play better football now we have money. We are not playing the personnel to achieve that level of improvement.
I hate how I turned the radio on after the game and I heard the most depressing conversation that only comes around when we look awful. 'Should we, or should we not boo.' I D O N T G I V E A S H I T B A L L A R D
Abe made some great tackles, one of which denied a clear goalscoring opportunity and he came from nowhere to get the ball. He made a few terrible passes which were so poor I think it's clouding overall judgement on him. Passing by most of the team today was shocking. Please let's not make him this year's Ricardo...we Leicester fans LOVE a scapegoat....
The scapegoat is Sven, Abe's not an awful player, he is just not the right player for our team. I'm allowed to think a player shouldn't be playing am I not? He's not a scapegoat, simply the worst player on the pitch today.
The following is the desolate thoughts of a devastated supporter on the team, Sven and the performance for today only - Tomorrow is another day Sven - Totally ineffectual - Do not collect your salary today Kasper - Well done - Thank god we have you on top of your game - Acknowledge the fans when they chant your name Koncheskey - Rubbish today - Will do better Pantsil - Just pants Abe - What happened - Why were you so **** today Mills - The Reading fans chanted what a waste of money - They were right Bamba - Immense again - How the hell can a player send the player of the season cup to the engravers to put his name on after two league games Fenandez - Not as good as Cov or Rotherham - But not as bad as others Wellens - You're far better than that Danns - You're the nearly man - You nearly got the pass through - You nearly did this and that - Sadly you weren't nearly good Waghorn - As against Rotherham, you are making your case for a move away from Leicester Nugent - Nothing whatsoever to offer Gallagher - Continues to be a pussy Schlupp - Should never have been started - Headless chicken King - **** but was that because he wasn't started Ref - No concerns Atmosphere - It was great until just after it was obvious Sven had given the players the day off Reading fans - **** Best chant of the day - To the really fat Reading female fan - Your seats too small for you Pissed off and signing out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think he made one bad pass and other than that I can't think of a single thing he did wrong. He was top notch at breaking their play up and distributing it. Maybe 9.5 is a bit over the top, but I wouldn't give him lower than a 9. I don't think it was a lot of terrible individual performances that cost us today, just a very poor team balance and unit - as well as falling asleep at a corner.
waghorn needs to be told to cool his left foot...every set pieces. goes too high and too long...he NEVER seems to learn....
