Only my view mind Starters Hamer (3) - not at all happy with his reaction to Green for the goal, is it too much to ask for one good save during the game? Their keeper did from Razak's free kick, Wilson (6) - Charlton MoM, a threat when attacking with some good (if slightly overhit) crosses, coped quite well with having two players against him in the first half, Morrow (6) - Competent, did a lot of clearing up but he couldn't be everywhere, Cort (5) - Good in the air (as usual), positioning was OK, passing was woeful! Solly (6) - Let the ref get the better of him and was a bit of a loose cannon in last 20, great sliding block to stop a certain goal late in first half, Green (4) - Not one of his better games, bad error in trying to let the ball run out of play for a goalkick from which they scored, Razak (6) - Only creativity from midfield in first half, can only assume he was still suffering from his international exploits and wanted off at half time, Hollands (4) - Went missing in action, sadly, Stephens (5) - Never at his best when being asked to battle in midfield, Kerkar (5) - Tried hard with all his stepovers but (sadly) not particularly effective, Fuller (5) - Double marked, he often beat his first man but then had nothing for the second Subs Jacko (4) - Came back too early? I honestly can't remember him being involved at all in the second half! BWP (5) - Ran around a lot, no service AGAIN! Pritchard (5) - You get what it says on the tin, never a right winger but tries hard. Manager Chrissy (5) - Made his subs early which sadly back fired a bit (so we won't be seeing that again ), his dry cleaners may ask questions about dirty marks in the groinal area The thing I most noticed about the game 50/50 balls won in midfield.... just my estimate... Addicks ..10% Tykes ..90% AllHell
Only my view. Do we award 4 points for doing things like remembering to put shirts on the right way round or finding the pitch at the end of the tunnel? The only people who deserve more than 3 yesterday were Wilson (why do people hate him?), Morro and Cort. Everyone else was 3 or worse. This was truly inept. And Hamer needs to go shout at a mirror. Tit of the highest order! On a day when I have had a bowl of happiness for breakfast I'd agree pretty much entirely with AH's reasoned and considerate marks as per the previous post. But I'm feeling miserable so they all a bunch of incompetents! Off to lie down.
Glad someone else picked up on Hamers reaction for the goal. Having seen it again on SSN, I still think Hamer was useless in showing Cywka too much of the bear post. Also, I think Wilson has proved he is up to this level. Thought he was brilliant.
I don't disagree with most of the above, but I thought Stephens had a better game than that. Actually I think he won quite a lot. He suffers from a reputation of not putting his foot in. In fact he has started to and I thought he had a better game than most yesterday.
Other than Wilson, they were all dross. Solly needs to revert back to RB, with Evina at LB and Wilson moving to RM. And, when we are chasing a game, don't bring on Pritchard. Bring on Hulse or Waggy! It was a bollocks performance, with a bollocks team selection and bollocks subsitutions. It was bollocks.
#Starters Hamer (2) - have you noticed it is always someone elses fault that the opposition get through the defence and past him, Wilson (5) - Played well and deserved his slot even though we have a better right back in the squad Morrow (6) - did his job inlike some others Cort (5) - Passing was poor and seemed to deteriorate after twenty minutes of the first half. but on the whole did his job! Solly (6) - Allowed himself to be put off by their no7 but was again played out of position. What has Evina got to do to get a game. Green (4) - Not a star but shouldn't have been subbed, worked hard. Razak (6) - Not happy that he was subbed at half time. however much he was jetlagged he was better than jacko who is not yet fully fit., Hollands (2) - Woeful, Stephens (4) - Moments of spark but needs t do more to justify his place, Kerkar (5) - I can't wait till Kermit is fit again. Kerkar tried hard but frequently lacked suoport from Fuller Fuller (2) - not certain how ge justified a berth Subs Jacko (4) - Not yet fully fit or maybe the legs are going. BWP (5) - Positioning was off. not sure how to play off Kerkar but did try Pritchard (5) - Not his fault that CP plays him at right mid. Much better in the centre last season and would have been my choice to replace Hollands.
My problem with Hamer is that by reacting in the way that he did to the goal (instead of supporting Greeny) he forced the Doctor into changing Green a few minutes later when perhaps Holt for Kerkar and putting BWP on the left would have been a better option?
He's an idiot. A massive idiot. Done what he did with Green and when Stephens stood up to him he then raised his hands. Think he's a good keeper, but I really hate his character.
I can't believe the crap said about Wilson he improves with every game as for Hamer I don't have a problem with him bollocking the players to be honest as for always blaming someone else all keepers do that well the good ones. We need kermogant fit and start him and BWP up front again with fuller as an impact sub
As someone whoâs usually able to take the positives from even the most ropey of performances. Iâve been left cold and completely unable to take anything from the pile of rubbish that was served up on Saturday. For me Solly was our MOM. A great pro whoâs doing a truly cracking job playing out of position. Anyone watching him for the first time on Saturday would assume he is a natural LB. Wilson â I absolutely love him going forwards but he scares the life out of me defensively. Iâd really like to see him playing RM with Solly behind him. Fuller â No doubt a very useful player to have in this league but, did he forget to put studs in his bloody boots on Saturdayâ¦? I lost count how many time he went a**e over t*tâ¦!! Due to this he was ineffective Hollands â Was absolutely woeful, just about everything he did turned to rat s**t. For me heâs the one ever present from last seasonâs campaign who most appears to be struggling to get to grips with the step up. I think (hope) Saturday was just a bad day at the office. However, the main issues for me were... Lack of structure to our pressing...: We seem to have a collective tendency to press the player in possession individually, by running directly at the man in possession. What we need to work on is condensing the space as a unit, particularly in the middle of the park. Second phase ball...: We didnât win any, mostly because we didnât bother trying to win anyâ¦!! 4-5-1 at home...: Can work really well if your midfielders join in the attack quickly when in possession of the ball. Ours didnât. Due to this we were basically deploying a defensive 4-5-1 system and threw away home advantage, allowing Barnsley to get a foothold in the game, from which they grew and grew in confidence. Powellâ¦: I canât really slaughter the gaffer too. He saw that the 4-5-1 wasnât working because we werenât getting enough bodies in advanced positions to support Fuller. He therefore brought on BWP for the hapless Hollands and reverted to 4-4-2. Green was pony, off he came and on went Pritchard⦠fine⦠I however, wouldâve moved Wilson forward to RM and put Pritchard at RB. For me Wilson carries the greater attacking threat of the two and he was having a bit of joy against the Barnsley FB. Razak did ok, was a bit wasteful in possession at times. Replaced by JJ, I think to allow Stephens to push forward a little. Canât argue with that. The gaffer werenât to know that Fuller was going to bust a hamstring so, any argument that he used up his subs too early is with the benefit of hindsight. The only thing I do knock him for is for not insisting that Fuller put some bloody studs in his bootsâ¦!! Anyway, I said it before a ball was kicked this season and Iâll say it again⦠Iâd take finishing one above the drop zone now if you offered it to meâ¦!! Love to all, Franco
