    According to Lawro ....
Oh ****! Have we been digging a hole with a back-hoe, without realizing it (the board that is - there are plenty of people on this board that have seen this coming or something like it the moment the threat of Bony's departure started become more than a threat).

Question: how do we stop digging. How do we fill in the hole. How do we climb out of it.

According to Monk ... it's all down to player attitude (cue Bob with the quote) ... According to Lawro that's at risk of switching off.

I cant disagree with it. In recent weeks we have gone backwards and good players have looked bad and this has to be down to bad management and poor motivation by GM. We have had to deal without Bony for weeks before and have coped. I just wonder waht GM is doing with the players at training and meetings. We are a 10x better side than the form we are showing. As i have said before Gm has to show whether he is is up to this job or not. I fear he isnt up to it, but we will have enough to survive , JUST.

Bony has just left us so give us a chance to adjust ffs, monk cant help it if bony's replacement is not as good and not putting away the countless chances he has had. If half of the shots had hit the target he may have scored a few and fans would not be making over the top comments. Bony is a massive loss and monk must find his replacement and he dont have the funds to splash out £10 - £15m on one player like he should be doing. jinx wont go for it which is in my view wrong. It's not easy for monk to get the striker he wants and as long as gomis is here then he has no choice other than try and build up his confidence while looking for a striker in our price range..If anyone is to blame then blame the Board..

All well and good but it's the performances which are poor, they were deteriorating when he was still with us and that's not down to Bony leaving I'm afraid .Gomis is /was Bony's replacement so no excuse there either .

one poor performance against the champions elect thats all. we could and should have beaten blackburn even with key players missing if we had finishers and 11 players on the pitch....one game dont make us a bad team its lack of putting away our chances that is making us look bad....

    "could" ; "should", and "if".

Three words that sum up Monk's calamitous "rookie"ship.

Wasn't Gomis wanted by ML the Summer before last.......<whistle>

Guess that Curtis may escape the blame! ML's fault it is, then! <laugh>

'Bony has just left us so give us a chance to adjust" Monk has been saying he knew Bony would be away for the ACN and had been preparing for it.
For months Monk has been telling us he's planned for Wilfried to be away in January - so excuses.

You are right when you comment, 'one game dont make us a bad team', unfortunately we have (depending on your point of view) played poorly in 15 - 18 games.

Vetch - I think you are being a tad generous to ML. Wasn't it the case that Gomis decided to stay put and run down his contract in France?

That way he could pocket the equivalent of the transfer fee - so long as he could find some club willing to pay him £8m..........<whistle>

I don't really like going on about Laudrup but it's funny how some fans, rightly or wrongly, were happy to pile the blame onto him when we were sliding but now we're playing as badly as we ever have in the Prem, suddenly it's not Monk's fault. I'm sorry but the buck stops at the Manager's desk whether they like it or not.

Wonder if Gomis was a board choice rather than managerial. Strange how two managers wanted the same player.

Just to pick up on points others have made regarding Gomis and Laudrup - wasn't Laudrup supposedly in Paris shortly before he was fired. It has never been formally stated why he went to Paris, but it seems to me that he may have been there scouting Gomis.

Yankee - didn't Laudrup deny that he went to Paris after the West Ham game?
