Just watching the Liverpool - Shrewsbury match, is it just make who cringes when a team invades the pitch like that. I get that they’re a lower league team playing against the probably champions. But to act like that from a draw against the majority of Liverpool’s kids. It’d knock me bad if our fans ever did that.
agree. Pitch invasions are unecessary and can pose a danger to the players. I remember that thick Mackem toe rag who chinned Stevie Harper for one. Nowadays with knives all over the place it’s only a matter of time before a fan somewhere hurts a player badly. sadly it’s a sign of the times I guess.
Agree, it would be vaguely justifiable if they'd knocked Liverpool out, but they only got a ****ing draw at the end of the day. Klopp clearly has never been bothered about the FA Cup, always puts out a weak team and his Liverpool team have never got past this round. Even if they had put Liverpool out, you couldn't have called it "giant killing" as it was a massively weakened team, which Shrewsbury definitely had a chance against.
Leeds 1972, Man Utd 1973, Forest 1974. My favourite one a St. James was by about 300 Man City fans in about 1980. They went in the Gallowgate giving it the big one about two 0’clock. About half two, they got chased into the corner. Five minutes later they got chased out of the corner, went on the pitch and headed towards the Paddock. The Paddock surged forwards and they stopped in the penalty area and waited for the police to be escorted to a safe area. Happy days.
I 100% agree like. It's completely embarrassing, especially since they're playing against incredibly young players - who can't help it that the Shrewsbury players are terrible at football. Credit to Klopp, I know he's not everyone's favourite, but he says his players need a break he gives them that break no matter what. He gives his kids some first team experience, shows 100% trust in them. A bunch of lads, who aren't as physically strong as the Shrewsbury players did themselves proud. I think Liverpool might set a trend this year with this youth team thing. These huge clubs - Newcastle soon to be among them have massive, massive academies. Why not use these players who are obviously incredibly talented?
He's a prick He's not even going to be in the dugout for the replay, German ****er. Everyone loves Klopp but he's a brat when things don't go his way
This is hardly a revolutionary move by Klopp, teams have been using youth team players in the early rounds of league/FA Cup for years. Wenger really started the trend about 15 years or so ago, when he started using the league cup to develop Arsenal's youth team players. The difference was that Arsenal always put out a strong team of youth team players that he knew had a good chance to win, whereas Klopp doesn't seem to give a **** whether they win or not, and just selects a load of crap from his youth team, and hence Liverpool have never gone further than this round under him.
I've been part of pitch invasions in the past when lower down teams have won the league (a team winning the Doc Martins years ago and Lincoln winning the conference a few years ago), it's great when everyone really feels the achievement of the team over the course of the season and goes mad. ....but Shrewsbury getting a draw at home in the 4th round of the FA Cup against a bunch of kids? Please do **** off.
Klopp has done an amazing job at Liverpool. I don't like the whole FA cup thing, but Klopp is after the champions league. His choice. Whichever team wins the replay, would be a nice draw for us when we play a proper midfield and dick Oxford.
Where as we put out our full team and haven't got past this round either since 2005 (not putting my house on replay either)
Errrrm if Sammy Scores we’re on the pitch? Another one of my lads who played for my GWAFL team use to play for Wigan Cosmos... if you know you know - that was embarrassing for our football club! Shrews getting a draw vs Liverpool’s kids is a big deal for them and their club and a money spinner that could well see their club financially stability improve. I was part of the AFC Wimbledon fans when they stayed up and we got on the pitch, straight up to Neil Ardley and then I to the madness. Was on SkySports news I’ll see if I can post the video! Great day out!
