Got rid of NP because wages to high? ... health was not good ..... and replacing him was a fine tune to go for it next season! ps should be closer to 19 pts to maintain what was before
Just adding a bit of perspective! NP's REIGN had 23 pts from 45 = 1.533...................... same % over 46 games = 70.52 points EOS LM's with "more" players has 16 from 39 = 1.230 .........same % added to existing 23 pts = 61.23 EOS [ OVER 46 games LM' s EOS would be 56.58 ]
No it isn’t good. Liam came in with the expectation from the board(for what it’s worth) of a top 6 finish. In fairness everyone else knew that was nonsense, but none the less that’s what they said. He’s been set up to fail on that score, but regardless his record thus far really isn’t good enough. I’m sure he’ll be given a decent budget now and more precisely in the summer. next season success will be top 6 imo, baring in mind that’s this years target without the additional funding. The question for me remains if we don’t achieve playoffs next season will he remain?
With LJ it was clear: Playoffs within 5 years. Not sure if managers since then have been given such clear targets……
That was one of LJs foot-in-mouth moments I think. I don’t believe it was a target set by the suits. However, he achieved that - the team went pre-season training in Malaga
I’m enjoying seeing the way Manning wants us to play. We was passing it between Dickie and Vyner under Nige and then going long normally via Naismith. We play it across the back but go through the wingbacks / wingers now more. Cam is playing further forward and was IMO playing under restrictions earlier this season. I can see what we are trying to do, and think once players buy in fully, or have a preseason with him. We could be onto a good thing.
I understand what’s he’s trying to do, I don’t dislike it, the point is though we aren’t winning enough points at present, and he was bought in to get more because it was believed NP wasn’t getting enough. There’s still a way to go yet, it’s too early to judge.
It was only Gavin Marshall who said play offs tweedle Dee and tweedle dum said top that can be 12th and higher.
Tweedle dum and tweedle Dee as you put it may not have said top 6, but didn’t say 12th, or else why bother changing Nige, they said he wasn’t getting enough points, and the new man would get more with the same squad. At the moment he hasn’t . Nige is gone, no point going over old ground, but I do expect the new guy to get more points than he’s managing at present. There’s still time for him to turn it around, but finishing 12th for me won’t cut it. I wouldn’t have excepted 12th from Nige, so for someone bought in to improve our chances this season I would expect top 8 minimum.

WRONG had 21 from 45 so = 1.4pts ... so EOS = 64 / 65 points LM's with "more" players has 16 pts , + from NP's REIGN had 21 pts .................add same % over 46 games = 38/39 + NP's 21 = EOS = 59 / 60 pts [ full season @ 1.23 = 56/57 pts ] LM' is about 8pts a season worse than NP ...........at the moment .... a run of 6 wins could change that!
Nige’s target was top 10, he was on course to achieve that when he left. as Liam was brought in by JL & BT to improve our points total thIS season, that implies Liam is expected to achieve at the very least a higher finish than the worst case acceptable scenario for Nige, Hence my Suggestion 8th is Liam’s least acceptable finish. 12th wouldn’t have been acceptable for Nige, let alone Liam who was specifically bought in to improve our points total THIS season.
