Some of you might have heard the news story about some guy finding the remains of a WW2 carrier pigeon in their chimney with coded message attached, and a later story that nobody could decode it. This article isn't really about that but about the stupidity of those (allegedly) respected news agencies that went with the follow up story that the code had now been cracked. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20749632 So shame on you BBC, Daily Mail and others, this "decoding" is so ridiculous it's beyond laughable. Doesn't anyone do the "does this make any sense" test any more? I won't bore you with what's wrong with all this, but there's a lot. My best guess is that it was a wind-up that should never have seen the (published) light of day!
im glad you brought this up vimhawk. i myself am trying my hand at the carrier pigeon method as an alternative to text messaging. Me and my friend breebsy mcclure are involved. he keeps jesting and poking fun at me as his pigeons always make it to my flat whilst mines... well, lets just say they never make it to him. I said to him though, it may be a good thing they dont reach him. you know what they say. dark wings dark words
