.....is joining the Priesthood! http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/former_...tly_in_rome_training_to_be_a_priest_1_1186541
Sorry longsight. You might have meant that in jest, but I really do find that comment quite offensive and uncalled for.
Isn't this old news though? I read about this last year sometime? A very good friend of mine grew up with McVeigh and Philly in Belfast and were best mates for years, he still sees Paul quite often so I've known him fairly well ever over the past decade or so. We always used to wind him up that his best mates ended up playing for Spurs, United and Norwich whilst the best he could muster was University of Hertfordshire 2nd XI and working as a recruitment consultant
Controversial I know and I'm certainly not saying that Mulryne would do such a thing, but how many times do you here of this happening. Seems to me that if a Catholic priest is guilty of such misdemeanors all he has to do is say his 'hail mary's' or rattle his 'rosary beads' or whatever they do and then all is forgiven.
Without getting into this controversial murky subject, with thousands of cases all over the World it would appear that the systematic grooming and abuse within the Catholic church is a very real thing.... I would certainly not let my kids go within a million miles of a priest unsupervised .....
To quote Father Ted: This whole *****phile priests thing is all out of proportion. If there are 200 million priests in the world and 5% are *****philes...then that's only 10 million. Phil used to go out with women like this (in this case, Nicola Chapman): please log in to view this image So, odd decision!
I ****ed her older sister Sam Chapman............. Nicola is married to my schoolmate Ian Haste now........ I was crap by the way...<verypissed>
Unquestionably there's clearly been a huge cover-up of abuse. I probably don't need to fill in what I think of that, or of the abuse. What those who have been abused have to live with I can't begin to imagine. As for those responsible, well, as I said, I don't need to fill that in. How sad though that R.C. priests now have to carry some of that stigma. Good, decent people, living out their calling are tarred with the same brush as the minority of filth. As an institution the R.C. church has brought it upon itself, but the individual priests like Phil deserve better. All the best to him, hope it works out as he wants it too.
Sorry, no offense intended, and indeed being married to an Irish catholic (lapsed) it was just black humour and no indictment on Phil.
Why? I'm with gandy on this one. Saw him with a blonde bird when he was recovering from his broken leg describing her as bang tidy would be an absolute understatement.
I used to employ Nicki's brother when they were living together & Phil seemed to be a top bloke from everything i heard about him, don't think the kiddie stuf would apply to him.
