At the ripe old age of 43, Phil Gray is playing right back for Darlo tonight. He used to be one of my favourite players when i was a kid.
I cant believe hes still playing!!

    I loved him

    Remember his frog-like diving headers.

    Awesome.

He was a quality player. I remember Hagi spitting in his face when he played for Ireland against Romania!

I thought he was the best striker in the world for a while, haha.

I remember he was one of those players I really wanted us to sign, then it happened.

Same with John Byrne, Alex Rae and Don Goodman.

I should have wished a bit higher....

Great player who after 3 minutes on the pitch would have his shirt out and be sucking air in from China, scored some important goals for us as well.

<doh>. It said he was 43 on Skysports. I know he was with them last season so I just presumed it was him, unless theres 2 of them??

Met Don in Stanley Central club one sunday afternoon. He was with Anton Rogan, it was just after we beat Millwall 6-2. Nice lad. Talked about of his love for Wolves a lot.

I met him once in Toys R Us... See Tony's comment.
Meeting celebs is so often a let down. Two that go against that are Monty and Tony Hadley. Great blokes.

Remember him scoring a 40 yarder at Grimsby on ITV once. Absolutely awesome goal. May even have been the promotion year under Reid. (His last season I think)

When I was a kid my best mate used to live at a set back housing estate at the top of claypath in Durham and John Byrne had one of the massive houses opposite when he played for us. We used to go knock on his door and ask if he fancied a kick about and he ALWAYS said yes - I was about 14ish at the time and he used to sneak into Durham City's old Ferens Park with me and my mates and have a kick about - I can honestly say that I was in goal when John Byrne scored a 25 yarder.... What a bloke

    That's class..
I was at the reseves game last night and was very impressed with the attitude of Elmo and Gi. When they got substituted after about 60 minutes, they spent a good deal of time going round the touchline signing kids autographs and shaking hands etc...It helped to make it a very enjoyable occasion for my 12 year old son...
