Fair enough but how much did the spend last season over two transfer windows, I don't know the answer just asking as it may put thing into perspective?
Agree Col but I think the key word here is balance this looks a very balanced squad to me which is a massive difference from last time round.
Groundhog Day. No more exciting than the summer of 2012, then we ended up with a lot of potentially very good players but no team. Hopefully better outcome this time round.
I'm still smarting at the hull loss, that is the type of game we needed to get something, now one less winnable game to get the 40 (ish) points
Also Groundhog Day. No more exciting than the summer of 2012, then we ended up with a lot of potentially very good players but no team. Hopefully better outcome this time round.

Very good signings done- targeting a 3-5-2 formation. However my main worry (other than what would happen if Remy left) is that what the plan B is if we want to pack 3-5-2 in? Think we are short of quality wingers especially left sided one’s if we need to change it. Hope it doesn’t come to that and 3-5-2 works but we are a bit exposed. As was pointed out in MNF our left side centre back position is a problem for us. Aaorn Lennon is probably having wet dreams about how easy it will be for him if he faces Dunne in that position on Sunday. Hope that the signings in general settle and in particular Vargas and Isla. 4 poits from next two games and we can then start to feel properly optimistic
First i have to say, that what a great transfer window we are having this summer. Three WC-players, two Cardiff's probably best players and ManU legend......Phenomenal signings indeed. If we will play, as we should be as a team, like a proper football team we could be suprisingly high on the table. Well time will tell but few things are still concerning me and probably few others QPR-fans too. Our summer signings. Lets take a minute and have a thought about where/why are they coming from to our beloved QPR. Well, three players from the relegated teams and three players who are rejects. Harsh words but true enough. Caulker and Mutch werent that good that they would have keeped Cardiff up and Fer was not so fantastic footballer that Norwich would have survived because of him. Isla and Vargas were delight to watch in the WC with a very good Chilean team. However Juventus and Napoli were not that impressed with them and let them go on loan. Then there is Rio. Man who was not good enough for the Moyes "medicore ManU" yet to talk about Van Gaalens new Manchester United. So there you are. Have we bought six rejects to our ranks or have we transmated our hooped team to real "Superhoops" with these targeted acquisitions? Im positive person and im inclined to believe the latter. However having bought those players from relegated teams there is a pattern which is repeated suprisingly often. Anyway in the end all is about "team play" and how united the team is. Just remember palace last season!!! 11th with that material!!! Ok no more dark thoughts about our great summer signigs. Lets go and beat Spurs for starters.....
This is a real look into the head of a QPR supporter! The hope and excitement of potentially good players tempered by the thought that there must be something wrong if we've signed them!! My main worry is whether Harry can keep Joey on a short leash...if he finds himself out of the team and upset about it, he has the potential to be a real pain in the backside and could cause unrest in the squad. Time for our squad of coaches and man managers to show what they can do!
The negative slant could be just as true as the positive and it's a good post to keep a balance. One thing I'd add is is that the three from relegated clubs would still be in the Premiership and their clubs would be struggling to hang onto them if they'd have single handedly kept their old teams up (from being bought by the very top teams). It is fairly common for promoted teams to pillage the relegated teams because the quality isn;t aligned to any noticeable success (ie it is seen as more of a gamble). I think we're still in the situation where we are a club of a size and stature that can't just buy in finished articles. As far as gambles though, they've been brought in based on genuine opinion by those inside the club with a generous financial backing rather than settling for the best we can do on our budget. Players with the potential to grow and learn too. I suppose one thing that differs from 2012 is that it felt like we were getting the best players that we could attract, now it feels like we're getting the best for our team and it mirrors our current size, status but also the ambition too. I still won't get too excited until we get the first home and away wins because we know they can be heavy millstones.
We played woefully and were thrashed in both our previous Premier first games. I think we put in a good performance against Hull and should have earned a draw at least. We have since added three decent players to the squad. Surely this time around it is not too optimistic to expect just a little less misery from the season
QPR supporter over 40 years. That how it is Barton will not be the problem. Only problem for him is that is he good enough to fit in our starting XI for all the matches? With every Remy, Vargas, Fer and Taarabt there must be one Barton in the team. He may lack of class in those dead ball situations time after time but he is still the "balls" of our team. He may be 2-4 matches suspended during the season but it will be worth of it.
I think the main difference with transfers this time round is that we we are looking at our squad and strengthening in positions where needed. As a result we appear to have a much better balanced squad. Mark Hughes was simply buying celebrity players who became available irrespective of whether they would fit in to the squad. I am hopeful that we will do well this year. However we do need to get ponts on the board quickly. A few losses and confidence within the squad can dip very quickly. A lack of confidence on the pitch results in players not being hungry for the ball which can look like the players are not trying and the crowd could get on their backs.
Sorry, this is a family forum, I would ask you to refrain from such vulgar comments ...................... well, at least till I've polished off a few more bourbons!
Yeah, I don't disagree that we need someone to do the ugly work and Joey is, at the moment, the man for the job. My only fear is, despite his recent improvements, he is only ever a couple of brain farts away from being a liability. I hope that he does the job for us...I just worry that he's not as good as he thinks he is and is capable of causing problems in the dressing room all on his own should he find himself not playing. It wouldn't be QPR if we didn't have something to worry about. Having Joey in the side is a bit like living near a volcano...you know most of the time it'll probably be alright but you'd always be worried about it blowing up and creating a toxic atmosphere.
Good ol' Joey got a dig in at Ferdinand after the match on Sat when he told a reporter it was awfully disappointing to concede such a bad goal from a set piece. "It was Rio Ferdinand's man that scored, wasn't it?" he said. His ego is being challenged since Ferdinand came in. I wouldn't be surprised if the stories about the two of them having a bust up over the formation last week are true.
Haha! Fair enough!! He was always more entertaining when he played for someone else...now he's our (potential) problem I don't find it quite as enjoyable!
