quite simply the question is should his contract be renewed at the end of the season and vote accordingly above.

Please state your reason for your decision, I will attempt to add my thoughts later in the thread.

This is not about who his replacement should be it is simply Stay or Go and the reasons for that; Please respect people's views.

Think I've stated many times on previous threads as to why I don't want him, pretty similar reasons to you brb.

I was extremely happy when Taylor first came back, however on many occassions i have raised eyebrows at his decisions both at the start of and during matches, as well as his emotionless pitch side demeanour.

However, his brief when he took over was to keep us up (remember we were bottom of the league!) and hopeully he has done that. If we go down or stay up by the tiniest of margains then my answer will be the opposite, but for now, assuming we stay up and he achieves his brief, i vote stay. If that does happen, he deserves tha chance to recruit his own players and adopt his own pre season.

    Go !

I sympathise that he is not blessed with the most gifted players in football - but his choices have been a little disappointing.( despite there being alternatives available )

I quote his initial reluctance to partner McDonald & Akinfenwa. Then his continued selection of certain players - despite their continued 'failure'. He has remained faithful for too long, without giving others a proper chance.

His deselection of players like Jake Hessenthaler (despite a wonder goal to top off some solid performances) - and Dack ( who, last season was not an automatic choice as far as I was concerned ). Dack has greatly improved this year and has been underused.

Taylor may get lucky and we survive - but unless he changes his tactics ( so negative ) we will be in a relegation fight (maybe even in L2 )

PT inherited a team who won the league 2 Championship last year, unfortunately they were about the 5th or 6th best team in league 2 but by far the luckiest.
Having stepped up to a league where teams play football they struggled badly under MA, PT has tried to get the same players to change into a league 1 side even though the skills aren't there.
The number 1 priority for PT has been to secure a league 1 future (and a contract for himself) from a very bad start, this doesn't lead to someone wanting to risk young players too often as the boo boys are just waiting to see him slip up.
PT has been accused of playing negative tactics but I see that as a survival strategy, when you have the worst defence your midfield can't afford to move forward and rely on not conceding a cricket score.
If survival is achieved PT has the pedigree to attract good quality players and loans to enable us to push on next year.

Any team that keeps changing the manager will never do well. you end up with a 4 or 5 parts of teams that just don't "Gel" stability is the key for the next few season's for us, Taylor has got us from this division before and he has good relations with Scally and Hess. I think Graham Taylor said a couple of season's ago that any new manager should have at least three years to make his team the way he wants it, yes the games is a results business but we need to look at the bigger picture, if we stay up(and I think we will) let Taylor plan ahead without the worry of if's and but's.

As usual Grumpy hits the nail on the head in particular with his first paragraph. If PT keeps Gills in League 1 he deserves the gratitude of all supporters for a terrific achievement and deserves a 3 year contract. If Gills go down, which is unlikely, but mathematically could happen, then it becomes a slightly different set of dynamics and there is a case that a different set of skills might be needed.

Go. I have never been impressed with his signings. Hewitt is ok but the rest are not very good. Take piggot for example. From the same school of strikers as Christian lee. I dread to think who we will finish up with if hes let lose with a budget for permanent players. I dont know who we would get as a new manager but there are definately better managers out there.

    YES
I was at originally opposed to his appointment after failure at Wycombe and Bradford, but have since changed my mind about PT
If we stay up, give him a chance with his own squad (which will be made up of mostly new players I presume)

Stay if we stay up as he would have turned us from a relegation threatened Team which we were in October,to safety. We looked doomed in October, but Taylor`s points return has been good.I think if we go down then he wont be kept on anyway,as we would have thrown safety away and gone on a bad run.

I think if we stay up Taylor deserves a chance to build his own Team, with hopefully a good budget. The summer rebuilding is a big job,and hopefully Taylor can bring in some decent players at this level.

That's my worry about him kfg. He seems to be Ok with inherited players where ever he's been, but signing new players doesn't seem to be his forte. Remember all the money he spanked at I think Leicester when he signed akinbiyi. Maybe if we had a director of football who could run the rule over prospective signings he made Ok.

Go I'm afraid, if he keeps us up he deserves a lot of praise but that doesn't mean he deserves a contract beyond the end of the season in my opinion. His loan signings have been mostly poor in my opinion and I don't think he shows enough hunger to take us forward. It always seems to be the bare minimum with PT, he always talks about how good the other team are in his pre and post match interviews, he appears to be too nice!

Really don't see how people can think we've got a future with Taylor at the helm. If we stay up it would have been by stumbling over the line. We could have been safe weeks ago but everytime we've got in a position where we look like we could break away, he's got too complacent with the lineups and messed it up. To continue to play Barrett who has been awful since Christmas and then during games play people out of position or go to 4-5-1 which Cody can't play to has just messed up our chances. The reason why Cody didn't score that many at Coventry was because they played him as a lone striker which he can't deal with and to continue to do that in game is just mad. Seriously PT, pack your bags after the Shrewsbury game.

Has to go now, after getting a win at MK Dons he seems to think that sitting back and absorbing pressure is the way forward, it might actually be if we had more than 1 actual central defender (used very loosely to describe Barrett) and could defend for toffee, instead we leak goals and now just welcome pressure. That sort of tactical nonsense makes me think that a change is needed.

Ironically BRB I voted before the game and went for stay! Maybe its more been wishful thinking that has been behind my support of PT because as of late it certainly hasn't been results!
