Is Peter Crouch the only striker in the league who hasn't got enough power in his legs to shoot from outside the six yard box?

Would any other top 6 side take want him in their team? I dont think so.

I am suprised Harry didnt play VDV just behind Defoe more often when it worked so well with Rooney and Defoe for England. You dont have to play a six foot lump up front if you keep the ball on the floor. The Spurs midfield are more than good enough to do this.

Peter Crouch isn't actually a footballer, it's all just a tall useless mistake <ok>

He has cost us around £1 million per PL goal he has scored for us....EVER <ok>

I can out-run one of his shots whilst sitting at home on my couch <ok>

Should be the first out the door!!

I'm not a fan of Crouch. If you hadn't of gussed <ok>

RRP,I think Harry will have more patience with Crouch next season than with Defoe if both stay. I somehow think that Crouch just might come good again.

I think that both will leave, possibly together.
They work pretty well as a partnership, when they're both fit and firing.

Bizarrely, I think that Pav's probably got the highest chance of staying, which I certainly wouldn't have thought in even January.

TMT - That's what worrys me, Crouch does nothing for us, and what he does occasionally do can be done by a different striker and he could actually score some goals himself!

I will be disappointed if Crouch and Defoe are still on our books next season, both of them are not good enough for where we want to be, that's a fact <ok>

Crouch is a Plan C player, never should he start game in my opinion <ok>

I would love to see Daniel Sturridge at Spurs....If Chelsea keep Drogba, Torres, Kalou, Anelk or add Neymar will he hang around?

I always thought that RP would stay because I cannot see our strikers having such a bad season again except maybe Defoe. I'd like to give Crouchie another chance RRP but in the main I think that you are right.

Sturridge is a decent shout, but I think that Anelka's almost certain to go and Drogba might even leave, too.
Kalou was extremely unhappy at the end of last season, so we might see a real change up front for Chelsea, as they try to get the best out of Torres.

The op started this as a wind up and it's turned out to be a bloody good thread. I don't think Chelsea will get the best out of Torres,he's totally at the wrong club but don't bloody well ask me why because I just don't know. It was posted many times last season all over that he would flop and I think that he will.

If we do not sort out the striker problem then forget the rest.

Depends on who they get in as their next manager and how he sets the side up.

If Chelsea were to go back to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1, depending on how you see it, with Lampard taking up the same role that Gerrard did at Liverpool, then you'll probably start to see the old Torres re-emerge.
A decent rest this summer will help and perhaps bringing in a real playmaker for the centre of the park, plus a right-winger.

Please don't say playmaker when they have eyes on Modric Pnp. Guus Hiddink for a year and then Guardiola is being touted, that would unsettle the whole team badly.

Not a one off, if we do not change our strikers it will be a continuing problem. With Bale and Lennon plus VDV most of our chances are created from crosses. None of of our present strikers are equipped to take advantage of this and that is why they must be changed.

Never been a fan of Crouch apart from when he plays for England.

If you look at his goals this season they are all tap ins, put on a plate to him by other players. He gets out muscled 99% of the time when the ball is on the floor AND in the air, he cannot turn players, always passes backwards, spends about half a year juggling the ball with his knees once he chests it down. I don't have a 7 year old daughter but if I did I bet she could kick the ball harder than Crouch.

Still, all that said he seems a nice guy and his missus is hot so he is not all bad I suppose.

I wasn't really thinking of the Modric-type for Chelsea TMT, though I'm sure he's caught their eye, especially as he always seems to have a good game against them.

I was thinking more in the deep-lying Alonso-style player.

Well now Spurf, you certainly saw something that I missed. Most of our chances came from crosses. I'd have to see the statistics before I even begin to answer a point like that. Nice one.

On Torres, my take is that the Chelsea MF have been spoiled for years having Drogba who can deal with any type of delivery, anywhere, back to goal, doesn't matter, just put it in his general direction. Torres needs more specific delivery to his strengths, which Gerrard sussed quite quickly. Chelsea don't have that player that can do that, and cover the ground to keep supporting him. Torres and Gerrard were a bit of a double act for a while there.

Sturridge has been lively for Bolton, but would still be abit of a punt imo, he's bound to attract silly money now too. Of the other Chelsea, front men obviously nothing will before the coach appt. has been there and assessed it all. I'd like us to do our business early for a change, get who we want in before pre-season, instead of last day madness. VdV just never got fully up to speed imo.

To stay on topic, I've nothing to say about Crouch.

Well,we've found a way to beat the wums. Start a serious conversation off topic on their threads and then say we've nothing to say on their wum subject. Let's try it more often to see if it works. As for crouch,I too have nothing more to say. Thanks for providing the space ooosh, you've had nothing to say since the thread started hee hee hee.
