Villa have been sucked right into the relegation battle, an English team is in the champions league final and John Terry is suspended.

    <cheers>

Despite the fact I support Chelsea as my 2nd team...and am ectastic at reaching the final

    The "£50 million goal"

Justice has been served for racially abusing Ferdinand. FACT

At the bottom of the PL, hope Bolton escape for Muamba and that QPR get sucked into the void. Words do not describe the arrogance and hopelessness financially in terms of "sustainability" at that club, they deserve to get relegated to be a role model in how not to approach PL survival.

Would have preferred a Villa win as that would confirm us safe. Makes things interesting though. Must admit I am not bothered about who gets relegated. TBH it is pretty crap for any supporter of any team. Just remember how it felt going to league 1!

When will they change the rules on accumulated yellow cards?! Ivanovic, Ramires. Meireles all miss the final for cards accumulated during the champions league. I remember when Barcelona were without influential players for the same reason.

It's not good for the game to have a final contested without some of the star players available, especially when you look back at what some of the yellow cards were given for - innocuous challenges.

Personally, I think accumulated yellow cards should be wiped at semi final stage.

Terry deserves to be banned, it was a stupid challenge. But the others ?

Some of the challenges were silly, thats the problem. Booking for taking your shirt of, kicking the ball away etc is silly compared to being able to swear at a linesman and nothing happens.
But contrary to that, they are silly things to do and I don't understand why they persist in doing it.
Captain Marvel is always in the headlines for the wrong things. Its about time certainly England were shot of him.

"It does look bad on the replay," added Terry. "I raised my knee but hopefully the people out there who know me, know I'm not that kind of player.

    Yeah right

Be fair to Terry, it is not like he has a history of cheating

Not too sure this is a good idea, it would mean that anyone could get booked and plan to do it, knowing they could get away with it if they progressed. Some of the rules are completely daft, the shirt thing for instance, but, they are the current rules and players know that, all the have to do is to play by the rules!!

    agree ILD <ok>

discipline is an important aspect of the game - the players all know the rules. i admit its sad when a massive game like a champions league final is missing three or four great players (and raul meireles) but thats ill-discipline and should be punished.

Yeah, it would make the whole concept pointless.

Just seen the John Terry red card. Why the heck did he do that? He can also have no complaints about being sent off! Absolutely stupid.

Totally agree in terry but when you look at how many bookings there are in CL in comparison to PL, seems crazy that consistently so many players miss out on the final because of accumulated yellow cards.

Imagine if real Madrid got through and were without ronaldo or Munich without Ribery and robben because of silly yellow cards. Hardly makes for a good final, it's the showcase for European football but inevitably so many of the best players are missing.

Just saying European refs are too quick to issue a yellow card. Some of them have been wrong but you can't appeal a yellow! They would be better off if they have 4 yellows goon into final game of the group stages just getting another and starting fresh. Don't agree with the argument they would just look to get booked if it got wiped at semi finals, how would that benefit them?

Trouble is, I would imagine Madrid and Munich and their supporters are probably delighted that Chelsea will be missing at least 4 players for the Final. Half the time players are trying to get their fellow professionals booked or sent off.

Munich have the prospect of 7 players all on yellow cards, and one more in each case will render them unselectable, includes Robben, Lahm, Badstuber, Boateng.

Chelsea have Bosingwa, Luiz, Ferriera as more-than-capable defensive cover, and Essien/Romeu/Malouda/Torres/Kalou/Sturridge as more than capable forward cover.

Missing Ramires and Ivanovic will weaken their line-up, but their squad depth should be strong enough to pose a solid challenge, especially if the opposing team has players missing too!

    Essien, Sturridge, Kalou and Torres
