Pending a ban

I loved DTs possitivity which will be sorely missed.
However, rules are rules and I don't envy the mods their jobs. We shouldn't make their jobs harder than they need to be.

Thats a shame cause I was going to say, I am not going into self proclaimed exile and will stay on this board because I quite like it and I never have anything that important to say anyway, I do not know anyone ITK or inside the club and am not that important

I am sure most of you who have spoke out for DT have read the post from Brix regarding his ban

"Final note. Following a series of unacceptable and unjustified digs at mods and others both before his self-imposed exile and in the hours since, we have recommended to the SuperMod a 4 week ban for DT. We are simply not prepared to put up with his narrow, opinionated nonsense any longer. If the board as a whole choose to oppose our decision, you will have my resignation without further ado."

I have nothing against his posts either way but at the end of the day he seemed to ask to be banned.
Lets all forget about him for a month and then welcome him back if he so wishes.

 

It's hardly being picked apart needlessly. If indeed DT has never been banned before then jumping straight to a 4 week ban, in contravention of the new super duper rules everyone has only recently agreed to, is wrong.

 

It takes one pompous, opinionated twat to know another....

I guess I always find you calm and able to see the bigger picture while explaining your stance clearly as a benefit to this forum and that's why I regard you so positively.

I will disagree with one point - this is more a special interest group than pure entertainment and any derived fun is a by-product and should be to the enjoyment of everyone rather than it being one or two people's play thing.

I'll also add that DT has probably avoided punishment, thus far, due to his stature and, when left with no choice but to act, the mods are faced with a man that drifts on and off this site as his will takes him. Would a week count as a punishment?

Furthermore, reading into his comments about the addictiveness of not 606 and knowing how sapping it can be trying to stay positive in the face of the screaming hordes, I will make a claim that he actually wants a break from this (to find his monkey) but needs help to go cold turkey, hence his change in approach over the last few weeks to a more blunt persona.

I think that's enough from boring old me though..... for now!

Matt, I respect you more than most on here and appreciate the support you gave me. I do however find your naivety surprising.

1) LIUTB said on numerous occasions that he was leaving because of me. When he didn't post for the month I was gone and then re-joined when I came back, it was completely contradictory to what he was threatening all along.

2) If you read my entire complaint about the system we have, you'd know that urging DT to spam the Mod's inbox was not what I was doing. In fact, I've never complained once to them and I'm fairly certain DT hasn't either. There's another group that's doing that. Please give it some context.

3) The Mods being overworked is right at the core of the issue. But I believe you've actually got it arse about face (with respect). In my opinion, there's a small group of posters that are constantly haranguing the Mods with PM's to deal with this guy or that because they don't like the cut of his jib. The type that drool at the prospect of finding offence in something, somewhere.

They know that if they kick up enough of a stink, the Mods have to do their bidding. What happens then is that the Mods themselves have to take all the flak for a decision that's largely been forced upon them by a bunch of anonymous posters. Its classic politics but on a Forum setting. And again, I'm surprised at you for not seeing it. I watched aghast as the poor Mods were torn to shreds over my banning when in reality they had shag all to do with it! And when they tried to explain this they were attacked all the more. They then had to go searching for a mandate in order to continue in their role and that brought about the vote. IT'S NOT THE MODS WHO ARE GETTING PEOPLE BANNED!!!

Then on top of all that, the same people that are flagellating behind the scenes and never leave the Mods alone, come on and tell the rest of us to leave the Mods to get on with it!! Its unreal! Its archetypal of a minority ruling the majority.

4) SB gets it which is why you'll find his stance on this different to your own. He's very astute that chap. And regarding his questioning of Oddball's 4 week ban, I find it a very reasonable query as it apparently goes against the rules. I thought the length of the ban odd last night too.

5) Again Matty, I think you're directing the "lighten up" and "grow up" at the wrong crowd. Surely that should be directed to the ones who keep complaining to the Moderators at everything they don't like and not the people who never darken their door?

Matt, I respect your contributions immensely and you come across as a gentleman, not to mention a fantastic wordsmith. I just disagree with you on this one my friend. Respect.
