Have to say just watched his press conference and was very impressed. Came across eloquently and was honest and concise in his answers. A big plus is, he is picking players in form and not just the usual faces. Pearce was always a favourite of mine as a player wholehearted and always gave 100%, with his heart on his sleeve. (Hopefully he will want the same from his players.) Looking forward to the match, more than I would have under Cappello.
Yeah I thought he came across very well, very professional and relaxed. Very amusing when he was asked why he had picked Micah Richards and he said cos he makes me laugh!
I was thinking the very same thing when I watched it. He seems to have really grown into the media side of things in recent years..
Never thought I would say this but I think I am backing Pearce as my choice to be the next England manager. I am sick of seeing the same old faces in the squad no matter how they are doing for there club. Personally I like the squad and this mix between youth and experience is first class think its a good squad. For me ---------------- Hart --------------- Richards - Jones - Smalling - Cole ------ Milner - Barry - Gerrard ---- - Sturridge - Rooney ---- Young -- Might finally see some passion!!!!!!
I know it's strange mate, I know he is no spring chicken but he just came across as so much more mature. I for one wouldn't be disappointed if he got the nod before Saggy chops.
Weird isn't it? I was just thinking of other players I thought the same about. Colin Bell sprang to mind.
Heard a bit on the wireless. He handled the racism bit well. Nice to hear he has the personal touch when dealing with unselected players. Says a lot a bout the man IMO
Ha ha. Quite like it actually mate, brings back fond memories of my dear departed Grandad, he used to say it, and he was a wonderful man We're not ageist here fella, Syd's like 412 or summat.
Interesting tactics by Pearce - if it fails he was 'just experimenting - trying something new that didn't quite work' if the team clicks he suddenly looks like a genius and makes him a contender for the position. Still wouldn't be my choice for England manager despite admiring him as a player, especially in an England shirt.
Sometimes slips out with me too mate. Got a Bakelite with valves knocking about somewhere that still works. haha
Hahaha I was given it by an old fella I did a job for many moons ago. Mind saying that we did have a wireless with valves and was supposed to be portable with a handle on top, I couldn't lift it when I was a kid.
We ended up with one of those sideboard jobbies with the cupboards either end to put the LP's in My old man had it stuffed full of Jim Reeves records and my Mam's best of the Hammond organ.
