Hey guy's, I have a general question that I have always wondered about. What do managers get paid compared to players? Also what do coaching staff get paid? No particular reason, just am curious.
From my (admittedly limited) experience, manager's pay is usually pretty much in tune with the club's top earning player- Lambert was on around £800k apparently, which is getting on for £16k a week... Whereas AVB was rumoured to be on £150k a week. No idea about coaching staff though
Don't know how reliable this is, but it came up on a google search (I doubt that McGleish's benefits from Job Centre Plus quite match his previous salaries!)... Name Club Annual Salary Arsene Wenger Arsenal £6 million Alex McLeish Birmingham £2 million Carlo Ancelotti Chelsea £6 million David Moyes Everton £3 million Roberto Mancini Manchester City £3 million Alex Ferguson Manchester United £3 million Alan Pardew Newcastle £500k Avram Grant West Ham £1.3 million Fabio Capello Engand £6 million Giovanni Trapattoni Republic Of Ireland £1.5 million
Would be interesting to know where our former leader now stands on this list. Methinks that a hefty pay rise rather than Villa's wonderful squad and prospects was the cause of his departure.
