I'm a little confussed by this signing. Why would a Valencia youth team player, who could have gone to a ligga bbva team join a English 4th division team ? Dont get me wrong I'm glad we got him but us over premier league or Lega bbva is a no brainer for someone who had probably never herd of the gills until a couple of weeks ago . And he might not even be first choice . In my eyes it seems alittle to good to be true . Thoughts??

    G'day much love

he has stated a desire to a.play in england and to eventually play in the premier league but b. he wants to play football and i think he realises his chance are better here than if he goes to a prem club now where he will be a bit part reserve player at best prob. plus his agent is a close friend of hess so he's prob talked us up a lot and we have been good to the guy (see the 365 interview) in putting him up etc

I whole heartedly agree with marcus here, it doesn't make much sense? Surely being understudy to a top flight European team keeper makes more sense.

However in the article it says this: "He can become a very good keeper in the future and looks likely to give Ross Flitney a big challenge for the number one jersey."

This seems to be contrary to the general thoughts of him on the forums, most people assumed he'd be fighting it out with Hawkes for 2nd choice.

No way, he is head and shoulders above Hawkes in footballing talent (and in height :p ), can't compare him to Flitney howere as I have seen him (Flitney) play yet

And clearly the lad wants to do it the right way, play regular football for a lower division side and work his way up the leagues, as opposed to rotting in some bigger teams reserves only to get over looked as the club buys replacements rather than developing their youth. Apart for Joe Hart, I am struggling to think of a top flight keeper who worked his way up internally in a club

the goal keepers at arsenal have both worked there way up through a couple of years in the youth and reserve set up and have both i believe spent time out on loan at championship/lower league clubs. apart from that not many
