Now I know I am not the most experienced Giils fan ever as I am still only at University but I still don't fully understand the negativity surrounding Paul Scally? When looking a KentOnline I see people critiquing his spell as Chairman and I suppose the best point I can make is that in all of my 20 years I have never seem us in any huge financial uncertainty, the only problems I have faced have been on the field. Without overstepping the boundaries here I have always guessed that some users on Not606 are as young or even younger than myself and when I look back at Gills History I have to think Mr. Scally overseen the most successful period in our club history. Obviously I don't intend this to simply become a love in but I cant understand why he is hated so much, do people honestly expect us to be Premier League?
Some people have issue with the fact he is or was a Millwall fan. He can also comes across across as an extremely unlikable person. I've met him on several occasions and if he doesn't know who you are he can seem horrid. He can seem secretive and dodgy and that can make people suspicious. I personally don't have that many issues with him. No one is perfect. He has his good points as well as his bad points. I certainly do not envy what he does and the way people have abused him in the past is out of order.
no doubt about it scally gets a hard time by media sites especially Kent online.I have to be honest he is very shred to put a pleasant word to it but he has on the whole done a good job over a long period of time and we the supporters should be thankful we have played in the championship for the first time ever the stadium is excellent for this level and we our still in the league. league one is really our level if u look at championship clubs they are mostly a lot bigger than us.
One thing Scally has always been good for is allowing a manager to put his stamp on a team. He's always backed each and every manager to bring a number of signings and I feel that his biggest critics themselves would agree that we were saved by him. People highlight MA's sacking as jumping the gun but I feel that PS learnt from his mistakes with Mark Stimson, if he was losing the changing room he was going to have players that wouldn't be playing 100%. Scally has in my mind made good calls and been a good chairman, I for one am looking forward to seeing this £50k turf going down.
