I am aware of the difference between sectarianism and racism. You know that Rangers supporters are guilty of racism en masse by chanting the 'famine song'. What did you do to stop that? You know that Rangers supporters are guilty of sectarianism en masse by chanting the Billy Boys. What did you do to stop that? I know that Celtic supporters actively tackle racism and sectarianism amongst our own. I have done it myself. That guy making monkey gestures at Diouf is a disgrace, but you can't say that people were laughing from a still. How can you say that with any degree of certainty? I'm giving you credit here Edge and I don't want it to appear patronising or condesending in the slightest but I know you can engage in a proper discussion about this where others can't, so lets play this out. This isn;t a you are worse than us argument. You are worse than us. We don't have a collective problem with racism. We don't have a collective problem with sectarianism. You do and I would like to know what you are doing about it.
0.01% of our support in Manchester were arrested. The City itself was not prepared for the invasion of 150,000 plus of Rangers fans. When were we last fined by Uefa? in 2004 or something? Again though, it comes down to 'we do something about it, you don't'. Well the burden of proof lies with your good self, prove it. See, I can also come onto a faceless internet forum and say these things too. As for RFC, I honeslty believe that Rangers can do no more to sort out Scottish/Irish societies ills. It's a social problem that the government should be fighting instead of calling on 'summits' with an election on the way.

Do you see us fight with the police in Manchester or Bucharest? Anyway Im not trying to claim we are better than you lot. Im simply saying be ****ing men and own up to what you do wrong and get over this ****e. Focus on songs about your club not anti catholic or anti irish songs. We've started - our most recent songs are about us - and the atmosphere is so much better of late you know. We've a long long way to go still but im proud to see us try and move into the modern world
It was a small minority, and from the arrest count, there was a lot of English people involved. Yes, I still here IRA songs at Celtic away games Did I see Celtic fans fighting in Bucharest or Manchester? No, why? because you were out of Europe. Did Rangers fans manage to get a flight diverted because of fighting involved on the flight? Did Rangers fans shoot each other on a European trip? Did any Rangers fans get jailed for 6 years for glassing a local in Barcelona? You are quite correct, you are no better or worse than us, our problems are all linked in that we claim most of our support from the same regions within the UK. The Green Brigade are certainly not my cup of tea, but I'll grant you that the singing of the Saturdays tune beats Rangers fans singing the dirgey national anthem of GSTQ. I'm sure you'll agree though that the GB have heapd a lot of shame on your club of late, and that the DFS tune is probably the only good thing.
The GB bringing shame on the club. There are other reasons I might oppose an element within the GB, but the protest you are alluding to is not one of them. I also don;t see what relevance the singing of Republican songs is to this discussion.
Fine, you think that a footbal stadium is the best place to air your political views, that's your perogative. But, if/when Rangers fans bring their politcal views into the stadium, that would be the rod that you use to beat us with. As for bringing Republican songs into the debate, you better speak to your fellow countryman about that.
I don't beat Rangers with any sticks about any well articulated, well thought out political views. I will beat the hell (metaphorically) out of Rangers fans who sing racist and sectarian songs. I miay disagree politically with a lot of what emanates from the Rangers end, but we can discuss that. There is room for movement if people are prepared to listen. I am not a vain man. I can take it when I am wrong and I can take new ideas on board. I certainly wouldn;t dismiss anything out of hand until I have considered it and I think most folk are the same. wrt Republican songs, it wasn't directed at you per se. More of a general thing that I don't see what relevance it has to this discussion. We can have that discussion. I don't mind. I just wouldn't place it in the same bracket as racist and sectarian songs. There isn't any amount of intellectualising that can justify those.
