Kop left side under the scoreboard. Happy days, still count that season as one of my favourites following Leeds. So close and then again no cigar.

One of my favourite players at the time along with I.Snodin, saw him play for Ireland as well.

Mark Aizlewood played for Charlton against us,then signed for us in the summer closed season. The play-offs were different then,we were the league 2 play-off winners while Charlton were the league 1 third from bottom and retained there league 1 status.

Baird left half way through the promotion season and went to Middlesbrough, scored a hatrick last game of the season against Newcastle who were our main rivals.Having played more than 12 games for us his goals beating Newcastle got him a champions medal.

Apparently Baird was the only Leeds player who didn't have to turn up for training on Mondays, a luxury awarded him by then manager Biily Bremner.

I brought the Mrs with me for a Leeds/Oxford match, Bairdy scored the only goal and J.Aldridge and R.Houghton were both playing for Oxford. I think it was the same day of the Davis and Taylor snooker final. We were staying in Sunderland with my relatives and as the train was moving off some twat shouted out Yorkshire bastards, proud moment...;)

Shaks that must be the same season I went to the away fixture at Oxford. We were late getting there, and in the taxi from the train station on the way to the ground the cabbie told us Leeds were already 2 goals up. By the time we got in the ground Oxford had pulled a goal back. We ended up losing 5-2 <doh>

Our best player on the day was Peter Lorimer <yikes> who was about 38 and back for his second spell at the club.

I remember that Essex, didn't we riot? because I'm sure when final score went live to the ground all you could see were bits of wood and stuff flying around the place....

I must've left early or something, just can't remember the riot. Having said that, ripping up a few seats was pretty much par for the course so one game blends into another
