Well done son. Out-qualifying Sutil for the second race in a row, he's really taken to F1 like a duck to water. It could be a close run thing between him and Perez for Rookie of the Year.

I can see them both battling it out, very promising drivers and brilliant to watch, already better that some of last years rookies such as Alguersuari.

Loving it since it looks like that Lewis will have competiton for "number 1 Brit" in the near future when this kid gets in a bigger team.

Paul di Resta is doing a very fine job indeed. Sepang is not an easy circuit to learn, since it makes unusual demands upon the car.

I had him ear-marked two years ago as a driver of great potential and everything so far is precisely what I hoped and expected of him. Sutil - no slouch himself - will be somewhat less happy that a rookie immediately knocks him off his expected pedestal.

The 2011 rookies are making a very positive impression and their future in F1 looks good.

In testing there was a big concern with Force India - they looked right at the back of the midfield, with Lotus just behind them. Sutil in my view is a very good driver who should be with a more competitive team this year. For Di Resta to beat him at this stage is very promising.

D'Ambrosio a lot closer to Glock as well. Just four tenths behind, pretty sure it was about a second in Melbourne. I'm still not sure about Maldonado, Rubens hasn't shown him up but I don't think he looks great. We'll see what he's capable of in the race, the rain should provide all three of them with an opportunity to make a name (good or bad) for themselves.

Nice to see we all agree on something. :)

I'm sure he said he'll be getting all practises in China so he should be even stronger. Sutil is a quality driver, if di Resta keeps outperforming it bodes brilliantly for the future. It's still early days but he looks like a potential world champion. Also, he has close links with Mercedes after driving for them in DTM, and Sutil will also be on their radar because of the German connection. If things carry on like they are I don't think Schumacher will race next season, so as an added dimension to the di Resta-Sutil battle, they could potentially be auditioning for a race seat with Mercedes next season.

He looks a very good driver, but the cynic in me is asking, 'will he just be another Henmann'?

I used to have a high opinion on Sutil but thanks to Di Resta its going down. Maybe Sutil should of left along time ago when he had the chance

Bando, it must be soul destroying when a younger driver comes along and shows you the way it can be done, and beats you twice, in a row.

Well I don't think Webber will get an extension for his Red Bull career so Di Resta might go to there. Vettel rates Di Resta and seems to have a good relationship with him, being competitive teammates in the past and all.

Hope it's Red Bull. But I just feel Mercedes will replace a certain German for him.

Silver, do you think Di Resta would also upstage Rosberg. If he went to RB he would be expected to play second fiddle to Vettel surely.

I think after just two races in F1 its a little early to be fobbing him off to Mercedes and Red Bull. He's clearly a talent but lets give the poor lad chance to develop his techniques ;)

Nah lol, I doubt Di Resta would play second fiddle to Vettel in Red Bull. I just feel the relationship is far more workable compared to a Vettel-Lewis, Vettel-Alonso etc...he also beat Vettel in Formula 3 in the same team, yet that was then this is now.

Considering upstaging Rosberg......maybe, but I just think yesterday was Nico's WORST ever drive I have ever seen him do. Nico rarely goes down the grid that much after the race. If he sorted out his starts and was far more aggressive like Schumacher from the word go I would place him closer to Kubica but sadly that's Nico's biggest weakness and he paid for it, hopefully Mercedes tell him to sort it out quickly and make him stay all day in that simulator.

    @Bright
Well it's not just because of those 2 races with Di Resta doing well that is making me "think" he will be in Red Bull or Mercedes next year. It has to do with the relationship with Webber on Helmut Marko and Nico with Schumacher "number 1 driver" and Mercedes overlooking him, which is making me think that. Both of them arn't really in the goodbooks or limelight compared to their teammate.

Webber is not really a face for a Red Bull driver though is he. When you think about "Red Bull talent" you think of some person aged 16-28 or something, not a 35 year old.

I like Webber but I don't think of him as a soft drink purveyor, wrong image, more of a Fosters Aussie ad man, you are right its a young persons drink.

The opportunity at RB would probably achieve a quicker result for De Resta as the Mercedes seem to have become bogged down with the corporate aspects and their incestious facination with Herr Schumacher all of which is going nowhere fast in my opinion.

Brawn needs to refocus the team, if he can.

I don't think Webber's age makes him unsuitable for Red Bull, Sebastien Loeb is 37 after all and he drives for them. I think he'll stay on for another season unless Vettel absolutely crushes him, if he's within about 40 points and there or thereabouts in qualifying I think he'll hang on, and I think Red Bull will be happy for him to.

I think if di Resta goes anywhere it will be Mercedes. They were involved in getting him a race seat with Force India this year, he might not be German but Norbert Haug is still a big fan of his.
