Many moons ago now when I was at uni and interested in filmmaking I asked Paul and Debbie if they wanted to play a cameo role in our end of year film. We didn't have anything to pay them, it was only a 10 minute short and all they had was a couple of lines. It was a bit of a laugh really, I didn't even expect them to reply. Sure enough within a day I had a message back saying that they loved the script (they were to play the parents of a little boy who thought he had used a magic trick to turn his sister in to an apple), and if the timing was good they would be there. They drove 250 miles to Glasgow, and from the moment they got there until the end of the following day they were nothing but truly wonderful, supportive and patient people while a bunch of wannabe students faffed around making a short film that would rarely if ever be seen. They had little to do, lots of waiting and sitting around and not once did they moan or make us feel like we were wasting their time. Throughout the two days they just offered advice, gave as much as they could and Paul always had a deck of cards on him which he would often get out for impromptu magic tricks which even up close were pretty ****ing amazing. It is a sad day, and for anyone whoever thought he was just an annoying showbiz type, they couldn't be more wrong. His main bit of advice that he repeated a few times, although sadly I have yet to be smart enough to take on board: Save 10% of everything you earn, and try not to rape anyone.

I've been on the piss solidly for the last few nights, last night was my first night off in ages so I went to bed early.
