About 35/40 turned up for drinks and pasties of course, at the Hoop & Grapes, Farringdon St.

Three guests of honour last night....Kenny Brown 1988/91 who played under his fathers management whilst at PAFC, Marvin Morgan present player recovering from a shoulder injury...hoping to be back by the end of February and Steve Rhodes a self confessed Argyle nutcase....PAFC historian and author of....'Thanks For The Memory'....revisiting the 1958/59 Div 3 Champions.

Steve shared his memories of 58/59 when he was a 10yr old autograph hunter and also his book that revisited those players and their recollection of their time at PAFC years later. He also had a few of his books for sale half price.......he also told us that he had had a print run of 1000 just before administration and lost some of them in the club shop when administration came to the club...very unfortunate.

Marvin & Kenny were part of a Q&A time that followed.

Kenny shared his memories and so did Marvin share his present time at the club......it was interesting to hear their views on Plymouth being at the other end of the world for some players who refused to move to the south/west.

Marvin said that he had better offers from Div 1 clubs but came to Argyle because he felt it was a bigger club with a good stadium.....some of the other clubs had crappy grounds and he just didn't have a feel for them.

One good moment afterwards was one member asking if Marvin would talk to his 9yr old son on his mobile...who was at home....he said he would love to....and he chatted away to him asking what he was up to....reading in bed was the answer....Marvin asked what he was reading etc etc.....and quite enjoyed his chat with him .... obviously made the lads day ...and his fathers.

None of the usual suspects turned up for sensibles peace of mind....and we all enjoyed a good evening.

PS.....Marvin was asked what the players thought of drawing Port Vale in the Cup.....answer not printable......but they thought it was winnable and hopefully get a good draw in R4.

PPS.....Marvin wears glasses....and I asked him if he wore contact lenses when playing...he said he couldn't......with tongue in cheek I explained I was looking for reasons why we couldn't score goals.....he laughed and hopefully understood that I was just jesting.

Sounds like a good evening was had by all then plym. I admire these people who can recall players and matches from way back. I struggle sometimes to remember who played last year let alone 40 years ago or more even though I was there. Remember Kenny Brown though.
