i dont want to heap too much pressure on the lad, but i really think Ben Arfa is going to be key to how pardew wants our team to play, surely a 4-5-1 with benny behind a front man would be more effective than two lumps upfront.

I wouldn't say tactically inept. I think Pardew has changed games well at half time vs. Sunderland and Fulham.

But yesterday I was amazed he kept it the same for so long.

What I'm failing to grasp is how we supposedly worked all summer on ball retention to control games, yet we seem incapable of stringing more than 3 passes together.

And when the midfield was being outnumbered, he didn't change the shape. Strange.

No doubt Haris was making strides towards getting a start. I worry about him, he has an uncanny knack of picking up injuries! I think you could maybe get away with Sammi at home in the hole. But away more natural midfielders who will make it a genuine 3 at times is the better option. You could ruin what potential Sammi has by asking too much too soon. In Marveaux, Vuckic and Abeid we have three players who can fill Benny's role, lets use one.

I couldn't see any evidence of tactics last night - it was hoof ball for the most part. We would have been going bat-**** if Sam Allardyce had been the boss playing like that.

It was a major concern that we looked totally incapable of passing the football around. QPR should have won easily - we were humbled by a newly promoted team with half the players making debuts. Worrying.

Pardew changed the formation far too late in the game to stem the flow of attacks. We should have played a lone striker but he simply didn't react to what was happening. We got a point but it was more luck than judgement.
