Are we likely to find a target man in the Jan transfer window? There doesn't seem to be a lot of them about (for under £2m). I was thinking with our style of play a really quick striker might be a better option....Sordell (Watford) or Zaha (Palace) might be better options.
We have a target man and a couple of smaller ones too. We need more strikers for numbers without a doubt, but there isn't a particular kind of striker we need IMO. Someone who can replace Fryatt when he is hit with injuries, suspensions or bizarre patches of form.
Zaha from Palace no chance - PL sides chasing him. Darius Henderson will do for me - has the height - can head a ball and has good feet and knows this division. Released by the Blunts last season on their relegation as a high earner. His he on a contract with Millwall anyone?
I think Fryatt would definitely benefit from having a target man next to him though. He did at Leicester when he was partnered by Steve Howard.
fryatt can score goals on his own, doesnt need a target man. what we need is someone similar to mcclean but who's more of a goal threat. pacy, willing, and a good finisher. a bit like FC was in our promotion season.
I think we get a bit hung up on the Fryatt needs a targetman like he had as Leicester. One major flaw in that is the way we play, Leicester back then, where tight at the back and lumped long balls. Our style of play cries out for a fit Waghorn, hard working, strong, mobile and with an eye for a strike. Darius Henderson could do that, Cam Stewart mentioned a young lad called Diouf in Man Utd reserves who might fit the bill. Billy Sharpe would be a great deal but cant see it coming off.
i quite agree. it would not surprise me if City are already planning further moves for man utd kids. brady and one other on season ending loans and then one permanant striker. as you say they have to be mobile more than big. NB wants the game played on the deck and not in the skies. we still have big dele for that.
Mussie, your Ched Evans campaign is fast becoming the new OLM's Kilgallon campaign, that must be the twentieth time you've mentioned him!.. Although yes I think he could probably do a good job for us. 8 league goals if he was injured till 10 september isn't a bad return.
appears than Zaha will sign a 5 year contract with Palace soon. bet that has a get out clause if the right PL offer comes in. but like stewart he is not ready for the PL just yet. look at the boy Moses who went from CP to Wigan. still struggling to find his feet there.
to be honest, in all the names being touted, I cannot understand why its only me that is suggesting him as a first choice? maybe there summat i dont know. i think he has been a bad boy in the past, but eventually we are going to have to manage more than a set of obedient school kids. what i do know is that billy sharp aint coming. neither is Henderson, Davies, Sordell, Howard or any of the other unrealistic names being mentioned. they will all be over valued for their worth!
There's a slim chance he could be sentenced to a prison term in March, I suspect that might but a few clubs off, rapists tend to not reflect well on a club.
I will be very impressed if City splash the cash on a decent striker but my gut feeling is we will see a premiership squad player come in on loan
