Hartlepool always have a big fancy dress turn out on the last away day of the season.this year the theme is bob Marley.the English f a have told Carlisle f c to refuse entry to any Hartlepool fan that is 'blacked' up ffs it's bob Marley he was BLACK
Sounds like great fun, what a ridiculous thing to complain about. I think it was Kick it Out as opposed to the FA who asked Carlisle to refuse entry. They contacted the police and FA too. Carlisle manager Keith Curle commented that he'd seen white people dress up as Bob Marley and never been offended. He put it in perspective a bit. Personally I think Kick It Out do as much harm as good at times by focusing on the wrong things and applying a one size fits all approach to their stance on anything they believe has a racial connotation. Trying to associate a group of fans dressing up as Bob Marley, a black icon and icon for people of any colour/ethnicity, with historical offensive 'blacking' up is nothing short of moronic. All this treading on eggshells only serves to retain a divide for me.
“My father was white and my mother black, you know. Them call me half-caste, or whatever.Well, me don’t dip on nobody’s side.Me don’t dip on the black man’s side nor the white man’s side.Me dip on God’s side, the one who create me and cause me to come from black and white, who give me this talent.”
Well said. The ****ing arseholes who preach morality usually have their filthy snouts in the trough of depravity all day long.
...and back to the Hartlepool fans... Hartlepool finally secured league survival today (at the expense of Cheltenham and Tranmere!) so at least they can enjoy their fancy dress day out without any last day nerves. Same goes for Carlisle who looked in trouble for a while. This region has had far too many local teams dropping down the pyramid. so glad to see both of these clubs survive. Also I think Darlington are playing Spennymoor in the promotion play offs from the Northern Premier League First Division North, I might be wrong, but I think they are the first two teams to have gained promotion from the Northern League in quite a while so its good to see them being successful next level up. Hopefully they can kep climbing and a few more can join them.
The way us and Sunderland are going we will all be playing in the same league soon and every natch will be a local derby.
