Daily Echo at it again. Quoting AOC's Dad as saying the he should join Arsenal now. Who's the bigger stirrer: the Echo or his Dad. (or me for that matter). The Echo will never get near SMS at this rate. I think Mark Chamberlain is trying to put pressure on NC; never a good idea. NC's shredder will get really hot. Demonstrates one thing though..there wasn't a prior arrangement with Arsenal if AOC stayed this season, otherwise Mark would be keeping his head down.

The Echo is dependent on sales to Saints fans to survive. If fans boycotted the rag and it's website, at least there would be a change of editor and perhaps a different approach to constant confrontation and undermining of the club.

I expect Chamberlain Snr just answered the questions put to him, although he should know better than to talk to the Echo & Sky etc.

I've been surprised at the lack of mention of Oxo in the tabloids thus far. No doubt this will kickstart it for the summer.

What will happen, will happen, we have no control over it. No point getting into a twist about it, at least we now have a chairman who focuses solely on getting the best situation for the club

We're all getting used to this drip-drip of rumours now. We have to trust NC to make the correct decision for Saints, whether it's take a stand and make Oxo stick to contract or get a lot of dosh. Have to point out that there is no indication that Alex is behaving other than properly. This is all kicking off again whilst he's in Switzerland.

Doesn't he know that NC is not a man to be pushed? He's probably ordering another horse as we speak.

Oxo's dad has every right to be involved, but it is down to Alex to make the decision, hopefully the right one, to stay for another season with us so that he can develop properly, any move to a "larger " club would probably mean plenty of bench warming, but it also depends on the financial situation.

Can't really see what Mark Chamberlain is hoping to achieve. He can give his opinion privately to Alex and Arsenal are already alerted, so what's the point? Unless it's for 5min of fame!

Remember, he's under contract at Saints. Unless we get an offer large enough, he won't go and I don't believe he's the type of kid that will kick up a fuss behind the scenes. His value is only going to get bigger and if he is going to go anywhere, it should be Man U, not Arsenal.

On that particular note CBK I have had the echo delivered to my home some forty odd years. When it stopped supporting saints it began to just be put onto the shelf and was only looked at for the TV programmes or the like, in the end not even that. A couple of weeks ago I needed a plumber so I thought I would check down the echo listings to get one. Only to find there wasn't an echo, so I thought OK I'll check tonight's. My missus came in around six in the evening and I said to her, (after greeting her of course) what time does the echo boy come he is late tonight? To which she replied "he hasn't called here in three months" I cancelled it end of January, you didn't seem to read it any more. Just shows how much I missed it!! Mind you it also shows how observant I am as well I guess.....<laugh>

I think Oxo needs to think carefully before chasing the money. Look at all the players career's who have been literally ruined by moving to a top club (Walcott, Parker, SWP etc). The fact they only bring their own kids through about once a millenium shows they are no place for a young player. It would be a far better idea for Oxlade-Chamberlain to stick around at Saints for at least another season, or see out his contract and then move on a free to somebody like Bolton or Stoke where he is guaranteed first team football. Obviously thats not whats best for Saints though. Personally if we got an offer of £10 million I would be inclined to accept (as long as its money up front and not on the never never).

Every single penny in the till now or no sale. Arsenal have loads of money in the bank. The days of easy credit are finished so pay up or s*d off.

PS £15,000,000 minimum. Bale and Walcott went far too cheaply.

I really don't know why people are blaming the echo,it's called giving saints news to saints fans and i don't know what the problem is,yes it's a negative story but at the end of the day it's a pretty important story that they should put out to the saints fans,if they didn't they'd get slagged off for not reporting.

Anyway if you really want to be angry then i think it should be directed at mark chamberlain,ok so we know he might move and that he's sought after but at the end of the day mark should not go and do interviews about it and say the stuff he has,i think it's so disrespectful towards southampton fc after all the hard work and coaching and the facilities we have provided to his son for the past 10 years,it just tells me that he has no respect for us and is basically saying 'so what' to all the stuff we have done for alex,i know this is what is getting me wound up.In my eyes if he goes he goes, either way we win but all i ask is that we're just shown a ounce of respect.

Agree with posts above, these comments in themselves actually change nothing, even if they are dispiriting for us to hear one of our most talented player's fathers almost issuing a "come and get me" plea. Cortese doesn't like being pushed to do anything (or his transfer business/transfer rumours being publicised), and Adkins hates having players around who aren't on the bus (or, if we're talking about Puncheon, have got off the bus, nicked the keys, smashed the windows, slashed the tyres, and urinated all over the interior). Guess we'll all have to wait and see!

AOC himself is the one that will make the decision. If dad or agent turn up in Nicola Cortese's office demanding a move, I expect he'd tell them to get lost. He still has a contract after all.

Lots of agents have clubs by the balls. I don't suppose Wayne Rooney had a great deal to do with the "Rooney wants to leave" saga that got him a fatter contract.

Just a thought guys......Could it be the echo taking a bit of licence to promote a story. In other words putting a different emphasis on a story rather than quoting word for word. All newspapers do that so I shouldn't be so hard on his Dad.

I told you chambo's dad qanted him out about a month ago. search for the topic oxo's old man.
everyone disagrees with AOC dad including his mum! he thinks arsenal is good place to go but tbh i think they have made a right mess of walcott, he should be a world beater and yet he is an inconsistent, injury prone lightwieght. i think that if he should go anywhere it should be man u because he will get alot more game time and surely he will be the replacement for giggs/scholes.
I hope NC hold's tight but if a bid of anywhere between £10m and £15m i think he should sell up.
ONE FINAL THING i s that we have plenty more coming through. ward-prowse, sinclair and luke shaw, who (suprise suprise) arsenal are after, so there more coming.
