I have just read an article on BBC's page on Championship. They go on about a parliamentry investigation into the ownership of Leeds Utd. What I found interesting was that for sx years the club was 'owned' by a faceless consortium operating from a tax haven somewhere. It was then 'bought' by Ken Bates, a tax exile living in Monaco. Some of you may remember I put an article on the old 606 to the effect that an Australian business man, one Sir Frank Lowey, was interested in buying Leeds in order to foster Australian football talent in the UK league. It all went quiet very suddenly and I have always wondered why. This was about a year to eighteen months ago, about the same time that Bates took over Leeds. Comments, anyone?

Because Bates slagged off Lowy in the press and/or because Lowy's interest in Leeds was non-existent.

Here is last nights Inside Out programme
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search?q=Who Owns Leeds United: An Inside Out Special

However no ones any wiser after viewing all of that, however Bates contradicts everything he ever said about not knowing who the owners of Leeds actually were, when being dismissive of the Leeds fans who demostrated against him he states "that i saved the club in 2005 and 2007", how the **** did you manage that then Ken?, you didn't own the club and had no idea who did own the club, from what you've said previously you were just the 'Patsy' put in to run the British side of the club.
The tax dodging **** should be kicked out of football as soon as possible, he has taken the piss out of everyone connected with football, if he were a fan he'd be done for incitement to cause a breach of the peace.:bandit:

Be fair Ringo, Ken's a senile old bugger so probably can't remember that he already owned Leeds <ok>

Why did he only buy the club this year when they've been struggling for the last 6?

Maybe because it was going cheap, or because he already had a good stake in its finances (No disrespect meant here, guys).

Leeds-18, you may well be right about Lowey's seriousness in buying the club, I don't know, but from our point of view (Australia) it seemed a good move and a way to get a lot of our players into a world class comp. Shame it didn't come off. I can tell you, but, that Lowey is straight, you may have benefitted from his ownership.
