Worth this risk? If we can get him on a similar deal that we got Ba on, pay depending on appearances i think he'd be a great signing. Easily Englands best player in 2006 at the world cup, if anyone think he's finished take a look at this video!

I would have him, however there are a lot of issues surrounding him. These videos don't really prove anything, he was a good player but injuries got the better of him. Clearly Sir Alex rated him but has now decided to release him. I think that says it all really.

Nope. Worse injury record than Woodgate. I'd rather try and get Vieira on a free to cover Tiote

I would take a risk - he was England's best player in 2006 - when he actually played for Manu he was class - he has been a drain on Manu resources (result for me) but perhaps we could get another few years out of him before he becomes totally crocked - the contract would have to be right though - the only problem for me is where would we play him? I think an 90% fit Hargreaves is better that what we have right now (although Cabaye etc are unproven).

Just thinking a bit more on this - are we not overloaded with midfielders at the moment......?

No, I would hope we've learned our lesson, SAF rarely lets a good player go, especially to a PL rival.

I know, did he really think teams would want to sign him because he filmed a few exercises!

Overloaded? Teams need depth to challenge. Central midfield we have Barton + Tiote who are better than Hargreaves on form, Cabaye we can't judge yet due to him never playing in the Premiership. But looking at the end of the season we finished with Guthrie and Raylor in central midfield and we've only signed Cabaye since that...I'd rather be finishing the season with someone like Hargreaves in the middle that Guthrie if Tiote, Barton etc were out

Because they have the money to sign a replacement easily, he obviously rated him if he kept giving him his chance, he was just unlucky with his injuries. If he hadn't been injured as much then i reckon SAF would have kept him!

SuperShola - well said - we need depth, and we don't have much quality in reserve - Hargreaves will come good again - I tell you this!

If he had ever been fit they would have kept him. He hasnt lasted a game for years. Waste of time if we get him IMO.

Great player. Really didn't like him at first, but showed something england have lacked before and since 2006; a true defensive midfielder with actual desire to win the ball(excluding Parker who should have been at the 2010 world cup). But the question is, should we risk it? No. As much as a fit Hargreaves would be a blessing, an unfit one is just a throwback to the Shepherd era.

I'd bring him in for pre-season, no risk that way. If he makes it through the whole pre-season and plays a few friendlies give him a payp deal.

Simple. I don't see how anyone can possibly disagree with this. ex england international. If he got back to a similar level it would be immense business.

Worst case he breaks down in pre-season and we send him packing.
