Tomorrow is the families.......male bonding day out.

We are repeating last years outing to Charlton on their £5 a ticket deal......verses Barnsley......probably one of their less attractive games.

So my son and son-in-law and two grandsons (7 & 9 yrs old) and myself will pop along to watch Championship football.....I shall be checking the half-time scores on the big screen.....Argyle might do well seeing I've predicted them to lose.......it's the only way they can get a result by me betting against them......so here's hoping.

Mexijan don't mention Bradley....there are people on here that have told me not do that, I have been his No1 fan.

The season he left Argyle he played half a season and was still top scorer....if he plays and sneaks a goal I'll let sensible and Mrs laLa know.

sensible.....I'll give you a personal run down on how our Brad gets on tomorrow, when I get home......I know you'll want to know....and you can tell us how we beat the mighty Rochdale at home and stopped all that nasty booing .....and how Forza Verde won the day with their support.

I hope you have a good day out Plymborn.

Watching other teams is never quite the same though is it, no matter which league it's in? More like going to the cinema or something like that.

notDistant.......It will be stress free whatever the result is for me.......so enjoyable.........I can remember years ago.......when Charlton played home games at Palace....that this ground had turned into a brambled, weed and shrub invested tip.....and I can remember that hugh bank opposite the very dated main stand. which used to take after the war 30.000 fans plus easily.....turning into a cracked concrete monstrosity of weeds, shrubs and even small trees......to see it now as a modern ground is satisfying even if you don't support CAFC.

I also remember a TV piece in which Mr. P Stapleton, then chairman of Plymouth Argyle, a club climbing rapidly through the leagues, visited his counterpart at Charlton Athletic, an established top tier club.

It was stated that Mr. Stapleton & Plymouth Argyle would follow the principles which had taken Charlton to an established place in the Premier League: sound finances and continuity of football management.

Subsequently, Charlton sacked Alan Curbishley for "only" managing to keep Charlton in mid table in the Premier League rather than challenging for honours. Charlton were relegated in the following year and subsequently were relegated again to League 1.

I wonder what happened to Argyle.....

Argyle's anchor just held as the Conference was beckoning.

Alan Curbishley........ now there is a manager to keep in mind......they didn't realize what they had until he had gone.

"I had a day out with the family to see Charlton and my favourite player in all of the universe Bradley Wright-Phillips. Double bummer cause Charlton lost at home and Bradley didn't score unless it was in the baths afterwards following my outing of him"

    Anything to add plym?

If that is Championship football then I am gobsmacked.

We were six rows up behind one of the goals.....and a steward warned us to be wary of the ball coming at speed towards us during the match........fat chance of that....neither side managed a shot with that sort of menace during the whole of the game.

BWP was a sub who came on at half time.....he was given no service at all.

Barnsley's midfield got the upper hand in the second half and David Perkins ruled everything that happened, winning 1-0.

26.000 present and really not too much quality on show.....probably why both clubs are in the bottom half of the league.

But.......a good afternoon out with the lads in the family........even better when I got home and discovered that Argyle had won 3-1.

Just one or two comments that I observed from yesterday at the Valley, then I'll shut up about it.

1).....Average crowd at home 16/17.000.....( not including two London derbies at home played already,Watford & C Palace).....today 26.000......that is 9.000 day trippers drawn by their £5 a seat offer (£45.000 extra in the Bank) to watch one of the less interesting fixtures against Barnsley.....give Charlton credit they work very hard in south London and NW Kent to draw people in,....that is the second year that as a family we have now gone,......what could PAFC do....the same £5 ticket maybe ?........remember just 10 miles away from the Valley yesterday C Palace were playing Millwall (16.000 crowd ) plus all your Premiership Matches as well in Town,.....Fulham,West Ham and Spurs v Chelsea.

2).....FLAGS......I saw no sign of even the smallest flag from the home team........the away supporters waved a very small one for a moment or two after they scored .....so no sign of a Forza Red (or whatever you would call them) at Charlton......there was a drummer somewhere, but as the match preceded that faded away. Certainly no sign of orchestrated cheerleaders present or song sheets.......when Charlton did attack the crowd spontaneously reacted to the team and it was loud and adequate.

So does it work trying to organize response without it coming naturally from the field of play.......what are your thoughts folks ?

The atmosphere at Home Park yesterday was very good just for information. There was a good deal of noise and the crowd got behind the team. Definately no booing. The reason for this was that the fare on offer was much better than normal. This only reinforces what I had said previously in my view. That is the crowd will respond positively if they are given entertainment and something to cheer about. I still maintain that it is the job of the club to provide the entertainment and give the crowd some value for money. The Forza Verde were in good voice but although clearly they are still orchestrated to some extent off a song sheet the rest of the ground isn't. Coming away from the ground yesterday was much more upbeat walking down to the Barn Park entrace to the park.
