We should have gone for sinclair while we had the chance, he would have fitted in having played with most of the players before and we could have used him on the left wing, midfield or striker if we were in a position that we needed too.....

I got the impression Michu was less effective/happy playing further forward, but Pozuelo looked like he could be quite happy there. As for Donnelly, he was brought for this very reason. I'd give him a chance. He'll work harder than Moore and if he can hit the side of a barn, he'll do better than Shecter.

I too agree London. He's done very well in pre season. As the old saying goes, if you're good enough you're old enough. Won't know how good he is unless he gets an opportunity. I would play him against Malmo to see how good he is.

Im sure Laudrup knows how good he is after seeing him train, he can pick a player in fairness !

Maybe he feels the lad just aint ready, maybe he does, I Laudrup I trust on this one :)

His wages would be the main stumbling block also I think Defoe is also a bit injury prone plus he was knocking off Alexandra Burke. Saw them last year having a quite intimate coffee in a coffee shop near me till me and my daughter went in and she blurted their names out in a "loud whisper". Defoe showed his trademark pace in paying and leaving. Although I think she has given him the elbow now so you never know!

I don't think it was a case of any premier league clubs missing the boat on Dempsey.....he went back to the US as his first option due to $$ he will be paid there (more than what Goldenballs was on at LAG).

Also on Defoe, can anyone really think he would accept being a squad player for us...

I don't think Sinclair would crack out line-up or even be on the bench at this point. Unless he was heavily constrained under Rogers while here, I think he is too one dimensional and didn't demonstrate the means to really bother Prem level defenders.

I was hoping for this to happen. Donnely of course, won't get games like Davies last season. But if Laudrup manages to introduce a young player from own ranks for the second season in a row, that is an achievement on par with his spanish business.

I thought Sinclair had the operation for a shoulder/chest injury and wouldn't be fit until September ?
