Our current midfield comprise the following: 1.Raul Meireless*(what happen next.?) 2. Steven Gerrard 3.Joe Cole* (what happen next.?) 4.Daniel Pachesco*( what happen next.?) 5.Rodrigues Maxi*(what happen next.?) 6.Dirk Kuyt 7.Leiva Lucas. 8.Jay Spearing 9.Christian Pousen*(what happen next.? 10.Jojo Shelvey* (what happen next.? 11.Roberto Aquilani 12.Jordan Henderson-New Recruit 13-Charlie Adam- New Recruit Which of the above players with star against their names you think are likely not to be with Liverpool at the begining of new season.?
Fabio Aurelio isn't a midfielder... Regarding your post, i'd say Meireles will go. Joe Cole will go if an acceptable offer comes in for him, Dani Pacheco will most probably go on loan to Norwich again to gain Premier League experience, Maxi will leave, Poulsen will leave if we can find a club to buy him and Shelvey will go on loan. (Maybe Blackpool as part of the Charlie Adam deal)
Shelvey - loan Pacheco loan Poulsen - sell/give away Meireles - hopefully stay Cole/Maxi - undecided You forgot Aquilani
Joe Cole to Spurs in part exchange for Aaron Lennon or sold to QPR for £6 million. Poulsen back to Denmark. Shelvey out on loan. Pacheco back to Norwich...season long loan. Will take Maxi's place when next summer Maxi returns home to Argentina. Dirk Kuyt will be used as a centre forward.
The only real Midfielders that can stick to a rigid 4-4-2 I would say are: Henderson, Gerrard, Adam, Aquilani, Meireles, Lucas, Shelvey, Spearing, Poulson and Maxi if put in the LM position but nowhere else. Kuyt, Pacheco and Cole are not midfielders by trade.
Kenny was playing 3-5-2 when he first came in. Maybe he's allowing for five in midfield more often. It's all about depth. Lowest common denominator. I don't care who the last guy above the cut is as long as each position and permutation is stronger than last season's.
