Well done to the lads tonight for a valiant effort against a bloody good side. At the back we look good but up front, well it's getting dull now!

2 games. 0 goals. I really think we need 2 new strikers, and we need to get this sorted asap. We won't get promoted with that mediocre forward line, and I am being kind.

A big week for me next week. Will we get someone to bang in the goals - it is a well overdue signing!!!

Last season our problem was we were leaking too many goals, we was still scoring goals so Sven has spent 9M on defensive players signing Schmeichel, St. Ledger, Mills, Peltier, Pantsil, Konchesky. So know we need strikers, we already have Nugent, King, Gallagher all who hit double figures last season. So we do have goals but we need a striker who is going to get 20. Either Maynard or Yakubu will get 20 goals for us so they have to be the targets but Sven has said there is other targets in case them dont come.

Lets be patient, now Sven is back in the country he can now focus more on getting that striker. I would be amazed if Sven doesnt try and get in a striker this week

Last 2 games have also been played against Champions League teams. Nugent has been injured, and they are still fitness games. Sven has made no bones about the fact that he wants another striker.

I think Sven will make his move this week for a striker, the papers today reckon we are going to bid 3M for Maynard. I know thats a load of rubbish as if 4.75M was rejected I think its a safe bet 3M will be rejected to. I think we should bid 5.5M take it or leave it

The defence is looking pretty awesome to be honest.

Add Maynard and another top winger to that squad and we'll be invincible...

Have to agree proud, i think whatever offer (assuming we do make another offer), for Maynard, it should be final one,and on a take it or leave it basis.
This has def dragged on long enough now, tho with Sven back, things may take shape a bit more this wk. If its not Maynard then im sure it will still be a
quality striker, i have faith in Sven on that score. Im just hoping it wont be Yakubu, he would be my last choice by a mile, if it does turn out to be him
tho, he will get my full support, albeit a little unwillingly, as i dont really believe he brings a great team ethic with him.
Anyway only time will tell who it is, im hoping for a much more productive wk of transfer news this wk, and cant wait to take my seat in L1 for Madrid
    on sat............... c'mon you blues

Sven has sorted out the main problem which was the defence, we wont leak goals like we did last season now. The midfield 5 (King, Wellens, Danns, Abe and Oakley) are all solid players and that just leaves us with wingers and strikers. I would like us to sign 2 strikers and 1 winger. Striker i would like Maynard and a young player on loan from one of the top premiership teams and a winger i would like Jimmy Kebe from Reading

i echo what has been said here
our defence is plenty good enough for our league
    danns has improved our midfield
its just a striker now for the last piece of the jigsaw

I think what we lacked last season was a leader from the back, Weale didnt command the team and none of the centre halfs did therefore there was no organisation and we conceded alot of stupid goals. Yesterday i could here Kasper Schmeichel shouting at the defence something Weale didnt do and Matt Mills is a commanding centre half and organises the back really well. Sven has done well to get these players in. Pantsil and Konchesky are both proven prem players and they will add experience to the defence which most of our centre halfs (Mee, Vitor, Bruma) lacked last season

Halfway through last season it became apparent that the team Sven was able to knock together with the windows available was lightweight and easily bullied - If any team tries to bully City in this coming season I can see a bit of a blood bath with a few reds issued to both clubs - Hopefully the message will get across early and they try a different tactic

Bamba, Mills, Howard, Wellens, Danns, Schmeichel, Konchesky, Pantsil, Peltier, Waghorn they are all capable of holding their own and making sure the team doesnt get bullied like it did last season

It was mainly our midfield that was bullied last season, Danns is a bit of a nutter though so he should get stuck in <ok>

King and Abe are too easy to bully out the midfield. Oakley is experienced enough and Wellens dont get bullied

These statements are from Bristol city

    bean_head
Colin - We don't have figure in mind for Maynard we would agree to sell. We don't want to sell. If we were forced, we would get maximum.

    bean_head
Keith: Nicky is happy and enjoying pre-season with us.

    bean_head

Chairman Colin: Maynard situation is ongoing, determined to keep him but have to be patient. Want to conclude something before August.

I also think Abe will be able to adapt to the physical side of the English game so he won't get as bullied in the middle of the park as he was last season - technically he's one of our best players and hopefully he can deal with the physical challenges of this league as well.
