I reckon the agent deliberately spilled this to the media. If Norwich had their way we wouldn't know anything other than maybe a small rumour. Unsurprising really though.

i don't think there is any doubt whatsoever that his agent leaked it... he's obviously enjoying his time in the spotlight too, the number of radio interviews he's been doing!

Hope we can still resolve the issue and keep him though. We all want him to stay and most would agree he deserves more, but still can't help thinking theres more to it than the extra year on the contract.....

I must be the only fan who doesn't particularly want him to stay.

Not because I think he's 'betrayed' us or anything like that. With all that he has done for the club, he owes us nothing. I just think if we can get £5m or more for him, we should sell him and use the money to buy a young up-and-coming striker. Holt's 31 and his performances are going to decline and we'll never get more for him than we will now.

Sounds a bit harsh but makes perfect sense to me!!!! As everyone says this is football, neither Lambert nor Holt are bigger than Norwich City. Both have given good service to the club and I personally wish them both all the best but now it is time to move on. We have a great new manager, all we need now is a great new striker. I am sure Hughton would be able to find one for 5 or 6 million. Lets say good bye and look forward to next season.

that's the cold reality of it all. norwich city may very well be better off for selling him! i'd still prefer it if he stays as he will take some replacing - its not just his goals remember, he creates goals as well and is talismanic. he is the heartbeat of the club on the pitch. it would be a big, big risk to sell him but it may be for the best.

I wouldn't want to see him go. Quite simply we know how much of a handful he has been for opposition this year and what opposing teams are going to look forward to a game against him?

Lets say we got £5m for him, who would we sign that would score the same amount of goals and wouldnt be classed as a huge risk? Not only that but the type of player Holt is isnt easy to find and I also think his role around the club is instrumental.

I think we should sign him up for the next 3 years. Even if we got relegated at some point in the next two years we could sell him and still make money on what we bought him for and if we stay up keeping him would have been justified. Theres also nothing to stop us signing him on for the 3 years and then selling him next summer if we wanted two which would also help to maximise his value. As things are next summer we will be almost forced to accept an offer for him if he wanted to go somewhere else as he would be enterring the final year of his contract.

I think a happy Holt is well worth the extra year and I feel hes one of the players that really deserves to be the highest earner at the club. I know we have a budget but Holt should be at the top of that.

Let's hope it gets resolved and he is still here next season.

i honestly believe the club have thought that through and would offer him an extra year on his current terms. this to me suggests that holt is demanding too much of a pay rise, probably over our wage limit and that is the real reason he wants to leave. the security of an extra year is also wanted but there are ways to give him that. its all about the money now in my opinion...

It's all very well saying sell him, but someone has got to get thise goals next year and a replacement from outside will cost big money.
The only other thought is for Vaughan to step up to the plate and that will part depend on him staying fit.

More than happy for Holt to **** off. I hate player adulation, it's the club I support. Think I may have woken up in a bad mood
