What is it with fans who use this phrase? Does good football win awards? Are arsenal the 4 time good football champions? Are Liverpool the new good football champions? What does it mean, does it just make them feel better. Good football wins games, it never loses. This isnt a kick about on the park, its pro football. One thing matters and thats winning. If you somehow have a different view of the game, you are watching the wrong sport.
If we had to yeh. I will never, ever lower myself to a level where I start praising our good football after a defeat. Never. Thats when you have given up all hope. United win ugly sometimes, its ****ing wonderful!
I agree I wont be praising a team that loses, you can play as well as you want but if you can't put the ball in the net what's the point! I don't mind an ugly win but when we win in Style it's so much more enjoyable.
Of course a win where we control the game is nice but different teams give different challenges. Against a stoke I like us to get stuck in, remind stoke that we are not wimps like some clubs and if they want it rough we will oblige.
It just goes on and on There is defo something wrong with you mate. You need to get that sh!t checked out. Praise, by that you mean played well but couldn't finish a sentence. Thats hardly praise, saying there are problems but positives too is not Praise, What are you even talking about? If you want to say Liverpool fans are this or that, just say it, instead of ^ which exists only in yor head Sorry if we dont turn on our team and get depressed after a loss, thats for your lot. You didnt win the league for two years in a row and ye were all calling for fergie to retire, just fkn weak sude, weak. Why do you bang on about real supporters when you turn on your team in an act because they dont win every game every year. Like the spuds lot that turned on arry cos he failed to give them a right to be arseholes by winning sometthing, now they all want him gone, if fergie stays and doesnt win anything this or next year, you UIR will be leading the charge calling for his retirement... you fking twat
I disagree. I know football is a sport where the point is to put the ball in the net more often than the opposition but I very much prer to watch us doing so in style than by parking the bus and scoring some lucky deflected rubbish goal. I'm not watching the wrong sport, I just think there's more to football than the scoreline even if that's the most important thing. If we lose then playing 'nice football' is a cold comfort but I know that when I go to OT or tune in to watch it on telly I'd prefer to do it in style. It doesn't win any awards, it's just much, much more enjoyable for a spectator. Though sometimes you need to do whatever it takes to win and that's fine. As for an example of 'good football' and losing, I remember watching Barcelona during Rijkaard's last season. They would have 80% of possession with hundreds and hundreds of completed passes, but still end up losing with barely a shot on target all game. Maybe in Wenger's book that's good football but not in mine, it was utterly painful to watch even for a neutral.
The point I am trying to make is that its all well and good having nice football week in week out but if its not bringing the results its utterly pointless. Consider nice football gets you relegated, like Blackpool. We all talk about how good they were for the league, well the good football was a disaster for them. Maybe if they had got stuck in and played a bit dirty they could of stayed up. Who knows. I would rather win games however we need to and not ever have to have the horrible sense that I am happy to lose because we played some nice stuff ( do you think Fergie says, ah well lads, you knocked it about well and had loads of the ball so its not all bad ). I would say we were wasteful and all the nice stuff was utterly pointless ( Fergie would be the same dont you think ). Some of our greatest ever victories have been hard fought battles, football that due to the tippy tappy crap of some clubs people now consider poor football. What? Eh?
