So our back four was the difference in us not getting promoted last season. We all know that. It wasn't just their fault - we had a midfield which went missing for over half a game, leaving them vunerable. What has SG done? Used Kissa's return as an excuse for not getting ANYONE in to improve the back four and has kept hold of Bruce/Bromby/Bessone/O'B who all seem to be above Lees in the pecking order. He's also started playing with two more defensive midfielders. That'd be OK if they could actually tackle or pass. At least with Bradley, he was good at getting forward but we have people who go horizontally accross the pitch or foul people. The cherry on top is that we aren't even going to score goals to cancel out the hemerage at the back as we've not signed any replacements for the two injured strikers and we're heavilly relienet on wingers who will be every opposition teams' focus point. It is only the 8th of August and I'm holding at hope that Saturday was a wake up call and Bates gives SG the freedom to bring in another centre midfielder, 2 defenders and a striker but I can't see it happening with the squad being as it is. We can only hope!
