This will sound like I am being a WUM but aren't we getting to caught up in all this no strikers business. Truthfully it should be pretty easy to score a goal....all you have to do is put it between the 3 sticks. Basically what I am saying is until we get to January we can make do with what we have. Owen seems to be at stoke chasing money but what would that have got us...we would have been as well going after Pele Or Cryuff they are decent players and would be just as fit.

All in all the other players can chip in. If we need a tall forward try Coates, did you see the goal he scored at QPR, someone with pace, Glen Johnson can score (and too be fair wasn't the best defender last week) he has scored some great goals. Plus after all of that there are the youngsters. Downing didnt look too bad when he came on against Arsenal at least shot at goal. Gerrard could move further forward might help him actually.

Ok the TW sucked big time but we have 20 players on international duty so they can't all be bad. And we have only played three games two of the top 3 last season as well. And the other team beat them other lot 2-0 and they had 11 men so again not as bad as it may seem.

Did other teams really do that much more on the TW. Spurs were promised a world class midfielder and got Dempsey and a goalie they didn't need having 3 already. And their start has arguable been worse than ours, lost to Newcastle and draw with WBA and Norwich at home

Man U got RVP but still have no centre backs that will be fit for more than a week at a time.

Even Arsenal haven't got strength in depth at the striker position. If Podolski gets injured who else have they got, Giroud hasnt started great so they are not really that much better off long term.

So again lets just stop listening to all the media hype that we have no strikers and get behind the team.

coates is a defender thats what he is, even if you stick him upfront he wont score the goals a striker would. i agree if brendan doesnt want to use morgan or yesil, gerrard should be our main striker. glad owen went to stoke i would much rather we got old horse face (van nistleroy) out of retirement than owen.

Glen Johnson used to be a striker and of the back 4 he looks the most dangerous but it's different being a defender and running from deep than it is being the focal man and having to run onto through balls or take up dangerous positions.

Being a forward in the box is about movement. Watch Van Nistleroy for United and his movement was second to none in the box. Drag the defender towards the ball then dart back, or vica versa. That is natural ability and not something everyone has, especially defenders who have never had to do it at top level against some of the best defenders in the world.

Gerrard could do a job there in the short term as he's one player that has the attributes to play in defence, midfield and even upfront. Until January think we just need to use Suarez/Borini as the main man with Gerrard now and then and then rotate Morgan/Yesil/Sterling/Downing/Assaidi as the supporting players.

We only use 1 out and out striker so having 3 and possibly 4 if you include Gerrard in that position isn't all that bad. If we start scoring goals al over the pitch and cut out the silly mistakes at the back then people will soon forget about needing a 30goal a season striker.

Play Reina up front and Borini in goal. Could work.

Rafa said he could see Gerrard becoming a striker as he got older.

Just play Yesil or Morgan. What kind of message does it send to youngsters when you play a right back upfront ahead of choosing them?
