During this slow news time, I noted on another thread a refernce to "aggressive fans" as part of a jokey exchange. Got me thinking to when a full risk assessment was required before going to a game.

There are some places that I don't enjoy going, but in the main life is less dangerous than it was. But there are places where the opposition fans are brilliant and others where you feel like a bad smell. So just thought I'd get the views of those of us mad enough to travel around watching the team.

My personal favourite bunch of fans are those of West Brom. Great humour, and always ready for a chat. Generally pretty knowledgable too. Aston Villa are good for a laugh too. West Ham are among my least favourite - get past the cheeky cockney bit and there are some pretty horrible buggers in there. Generally the North is good, but there again, there's Leeds ..

    Any thoughts, bored fellow travellers?

Norwich were pretty good to us in L1.

Brentford fans were great, home and away.....I miss league one just a tiny bit because of some of the great fans I did meet from around the country.
Leeds fans don't seem to be quite as obnoxious as they used to be as they don't seem to have that sense of entitlement that they always had, but Leeds is still one of my least favourite places to go. Millwall fans we all know about, and I absolutely agree about West Ham fans

Always felt that the Bristol clubs were a bit lairy as are the London clubs, Forest, the season we got relegated to League one were great and Norwich has has always been a pleasant experience.
Southend fans at St Mary's when we made the Championship playoffs will always be special

Apart from the obvious lot down the road I have not found Cardiff fans particularly pleasant while those from Swansea are very good company.

And in the Premier League and in the Championship on the way down. Love Norwich away games and will be going this season.

Forest away was fantastic and I agree about how good the Southend fans were that day.

Still don't think the Forest fans really knew what to do when we started singing "one nil and we f**ked it up"!

Just proves my belief: London is an overrated, expensive ****-hole full of Londoners, while Birmignham is the far superior city, not full of Londoners

Thank you, I always wanted a broom.

With regards to the original question, I don't have much dealing with fans from the opposition and generally don't feel particularly threatened (except for Woking away - but they seem to have a large chav element). I liked Bristol Rovers when they visited because there were lots of them.

A great memory. Their fans applauding us at the end is a real highlight. Of course, the memory is made sweeter by the fact it was not the start of the road to oblivion!

I agree it was funny. If you remember they first got confused when we went one nil up and started singing "one nil and we're going down" :)

Maybe we can add Feyenoord to the list?

Koeman says they like us, and it seems that they do...

    International bromance. :)

Racing v River Plate was an interesting experience. River's fans have one of the longest and most tuneful chants that I have encountered. My most recent experience was Reading v Cardiff at Easter and I found both sets of fans pleasant to talk to.

I think it would be an experience and a half. Not as dangerous as say Olympiakos and Panathinaikos the last time they played each other, or those Turkish matches. I believe those between Croatian and Serbian clubs can be equally "tasty" thus making West Ham and Tottenham a bit like a kiddies tea party.

Travelling to The Den for the Millwall / Saints game in the 70's was an experience that has stayed with me for many years, even more terrifying than my Mother-in-Law?
Don't get to many away games these days but plan to go to Norwich as I've always had a good experience up there, win or lose.
