Was sent this at work and couldn't resist sharing......
Guardian readers just voted Newcastle the UK's Favourite City (http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2014/nov/22/travel-awards-2014-the-winners).
I think this light hearted version was done with that in mind..........

I suspect the residents of Sunderland are eternally grateful for the existence of Middlesborough.

True, the only thing that Sunderland have over Newcastle is their superior footballing record

Love it when Newcastle supporters give me the opportunity to state the facts

    Thank you Sammy appreciate it

Sunderland Premier league results Won 6 Runners up 5

Newcastle Premier league results Won 4 Runners up 2

You do not need to be on crack to see which team is superior over time

Depends how measure superiority though doesn't it. Some would say you are just bitterly clutching at straws.

Newcastle have had 16 seasons of European Football for instance. 70 odds games and a trophy. Sunderland 1 season and 4 games. For Newcastle this has included 3 quarter final and 1 semi final appearance within the last 20 years. Not to mention to appearances in the top table of football which is the champions league. Shola Ameobi has 3 times the number of goals in Europe than Sunderland football club as a whole <yikes>

Just to keep you right, neither club have ever won the PL. Over all of time Sunderland would be recognised as more successfull in terms of performance in the English football league. Sadly for you there are other factors which must be considered in a global game. Cup competitions - Newcastle have won 6 FA Cups and been runner up 7 times. Sunderland have won 2 FA Cups and Runners up twice. Europe as above.

Then there most recent and relevant history, which of course Newcastle are way ahead. Outside of their recent cup final appearance, Sunderland have little to speak of in the last 20 years, been a bit yoyo.

For your added information the Premier league is the top, best, No1 league, just as you cannot change history to suit your argument neither can you change the English language

Why OH why do Newcastle supporters insist on trying to put a time frame on history to suit any success they may have had, each week in the English league supporters flock to watch their team play at the top level. a level that Sunderland have been playing at for a long time, their success I measure in how often they have been proved to be the best of the best with Newcastle in the same endeavour less so, this is the only way that superiority can be judged, not by cups not by trophies or bonus competitions awarded for success, there is no doubt whatever in my mind that had these competitions been available at the time Sunderland would have won almost every one such was the standard of football in England compared to the rest of the world

Like I say the only one that counts, before money decided who would be top dog !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When given a level playing field Sunderland have proved they can be No1, be it playing football or building ships

<laugh> So when JPF said he had a new job in Sunderland and would need to be away from posting on the forum for a while, was it so he could film, edit and produce this video? If so, good lad JPF! <ok>

Ow Sunderland has some canny beaches, mind the waters a bit iffy, unless you like swimming with floating chods.
