    Sure fire way to quit;

Phase 1 - Keep on smoking until you get to mid thirties

Phase 2 - Have a massive heart attack

Phase 3 - Spend the next 6 weeks in the Freeman hospital heart unit

Phase 4 - Spend the next 2 weeks in the Freeman recovering from the open heart surgery

Worked a treat for me as I have not felt like smoking since and I can almost guarantee it would work for you but there again I wouldn't recommend it!!

I am also a little concerned that some of the posters on here are going to "have a ***" - hope I am not reading that the wrong way <whistle>

I used to smoke 20 ***s a day (plus some) until 11 years ago. I stopped when my kids were growing up cos I didn't want to influence them. I started having the odd cigar a few years ago, I still smoke them, but never think about it until about 6 in the evening, or when I have a pint, or play golf. Champix is the answer. Piece of cake. Well, not really, but it makes it a hell of a lot easier. I can go a few days without one, suppose I'm quite lucky that I never really "gag" for one. Hope it stays that way.

When I stopped, the 'cheapy ***s' like Mayfair and Redband were just over £3 a pack. Ax I was smoking between 30 and 40 a day I put £5 a day '*** money' in an old piggy bank, which paid for 2 foreign holidays within a year

Was always into my 4th packet every day while working in Saudi, with cheap as hell ***s but stopped cold turkey when I ended up in the company clinic, hardly able to breathe, connected up to an oxygen cylinder, like the wife in those adverts a few years ago. I was 56 years old and would have be dead now, wouldn't have seen my wife, kids or grandkids, if I hadn't stopped. The first time I went 24 hours without a *** for 32 years, you'd have thought I'd won the FA cup!!!!! I knew then that I'd never smoke again. JUST DO IT, son..the benefits are brilliant. I wish you well.

I gave up 2 years ago but couldn't have done it without the nicotine gum - which I'm still chewing today! (not the same piece)

Me & my wife are now in the happy position of being able to go to the pub on a Saturday, smoke maybe 1 or 2 ciggies and that's it for the entire week.

You first need to break the habit.

That 1st *** in the morning with a brew, the one after lunch, the one on the way home from work and of course the biggest stumbling block of all, the one with the pint down at the pub. You need to avoid these situations that bring on the cravings and gradually ween yourself off the nicotine.

I gave up trying as I was so weak I was always caving in. I then went the electronic ciggy route and I'm glad I did. That was 3 years ago(smoked 10-20 a day for 25 years) and I haven't touched tobacco since, not even for a wee sneaky one. I have gradually weened myself of the electronic ciggy now and only take it out if I'm going for a drink because that's really the only time I get cravings now.

Life is great without those horrible ****ing things! Do it! Get rid once and for all! GO!!!!

Oh and don't be using weed as an excuse(guilty), get yourself a pipe!

Been smoking for 26 years. Wanted to quit for a while but never had the willpower. Complete failures several times with the stopping.
This time ok so far. Last *** I had was 7th January
Tried e-cigarettes (Totally Wicked E-Liquid online. Went for their Tornado Tank starter kit). Working for me so far.

Been 18 weeks for me now,i did it with Champix.I'm a 55 year old who smoked for42-43 years, and in the end was smoking 40/50 a day.You get a few side effects weird dreams, bunged up but hey i could live with that Now have no interest in smoking and there was no cold turkey with the tablets as it's not replacement therapy,it blocks the receptors that crave nicotine.Well that's my tale,
good luck in the future to you,and everyone trying to escape the weed.

Nicotine is the addictive part but not the most harmful one.

It's thing like formaldahide & carbon monoxide that ****s up your health.
