There was a documentary on at the start of the year and to be brutally honest I was that impressed with their way of life I thought of starting an Amish sect in the UK.

Then I realised they didn't drink and believed in God.

There were other factors as to why I didn't go ahead, mainly the beard.

I like the badge idea, as well as Party Hulls important date idea. The historical kit idea is good as well. Things like steve bruce with a machine gun standing on a pile of zombies saving a naked blonde are clearly superior but I always had the hardest time painting faces.

So dungarees are just overalls? I do have a pair of overalls. They are camo print. I also do tend to have a big beard, right now it doesnt look so good as I got drunk and decided to trim it with a pair of scissors so it isnt what one might call uniform.

I hope it's just like I imagine it would be, which is basically everything that ever happens on Man Vs Food.

I don't wish to think of America in any other way.

    Man, it's hot.

    See you soon Ellewoods.

It depends where you are in the US. Here it is a store. It is all the rage in trendy places to call a store a "shope" with an e for some reason. We will have to drive about 30 minuets to get to one as I am in the middle of nowhere really. The weather is not to bad today, its sunny and about 60 F I would say (16 C?). You must have gotten off the plane in LA if it is hot. I will see you in about 7 hours as you are like 500 miles away.

I have been to two places that Man Vs Food went to. The oyster place in New Orleans and then the breakfast place in Baltimore. People do like to eat way to much here. So it wont be that far off from your vision.

Here is a link to my websites blog section for the month of July. There are photos of me gold panning, fishing, hiking just down the street from my house. So you can get a view of your new loddgings.

The world record gold nugget was found just down the creek where I gold pan. It weighed 54 pounds. There is lots of gold here still. I find gold everytime I go out. Most of the time it isnt a lot of gold as a day for me is normally in the $20 to $100 range. To get more than that you need to use a sluce. I just do it for fun and not the money so I just use a pan.

When you say barn what do you actually mean.
Over here it would be a relatively small building adjacent to the farmhouse.
Over there it is likely on a much grander scale so your canvas will be a lot bigger.
Topically you could go for 3 wise men and a donkey.
    Allam,Allam & Bruce,
Leave the donkey open to a vote but I suspect Macca will be up there.!

That seems to be about 300 miles from me. It does get cold up in these elevations so I an understand wanting to avoid the water in the winter.

Well, I am drawing up designs for it. Since I retired I got plenty of time to goof off. I am thinking really 3 buildings in one. The far left being a shop opening on the end probably only 25 feet long. The second section will be the part that will house my cheese making, canning operation. That will probably only be like 10 or 15 feet long. The 3rd section will be my poultry house which will 10 or 15 feet with a door on the end as well as one on the length. The door on the end will go to an enclosure that will be fenced in so the birds can go out at night with no fear of predators.

You could just start your own version, where drinking and shaving is allowed (probably not in that order) and where there's no religious element to it, just cultural. Looking at the rest of the country it's primarily Christian morals whilst most people don't observe any of the religious gumph behind it.

They also get up at the crack of dawn and graft like bastards all day long.

Looking back my idea may have been flawed.

I curse like a ****, drink way too much and am basically bone idle.

The only sect I could start would need to recruit in a betting office.

Some of the mennonites drive cars and have electricity. When I used to go to hersey bears games there would always be a bunch of them. They would yell and cheer on the players when they were fighting. The mennonites are very similar to the Amish.
