I didn't even know this law existed.

Spoiler alert (if you planned to watch Common)

I watched it on BBC last night and basically a young lad has to choose between pleading guilty to GBH and getting 6 years or pleading not guilty to murder and facing life in prison. His "crime" was driving some mates to get a pizza. One of those mates stabbed and killed someone but the driver was implicated as involved.

Where does the law end? What about the fella who MOT'd the car as fit for use? Surely he should be mindful of the car being used in a crime?

What do we do to safeguard ourselves? Get those around us to sign something to say that they are not planning on getting up to no good and if they do it is without our knowledge?

Strange law and seems bit scary that an innocent party can face life in jail.

Don't know the program but know the case-(ish) (I think) ...Thought this was in the US though?

And they have laws like...Stand Your Ground ... in Florida..ie if you 'FEEL' threatened its OK to use deadly force...

(the moral of the story ..don't be a young black lad out with his mates, and if you do...don't approach within 50 meters of some redneck with an itchy trigger finger)

Just google-fu'd and yup ...law abolished in UK decades ago .... http://mic.com/articles/86301/a-man-is-facing-life-in-prison-for-lending-his-car-to-a-friend)
