Just goes to show that the chattering classes are running the Beeb!

The next few weeks will now be dominated by the funeral and the sight of all the self serving politicians climbing on the gravy train just makes me want to vomit! Meanwhile. back in the real world thousands of our fellow citizens will have lost everything! What's the betting that there will be a minutes silence before every league game on Saturday!

JWM,I ran the car sales garage in the High Street for a lot of years and was a District Councillor for Kessingland,It's not at risk of flooding apart from possibly the holiday park.Over the past forty years the sea has receded and there is now a good two hundred metres of beach and a concrete sea wall before any houses. This whole operation has neen a media led panic orchestrated by the Health&Safety Hi-vis industry. They love it.

Mind you Mandela pegging out probably saved us from far worse.

Wtf are you on about media led panic we have homes inundated, business ruined and you think it's a media led panic? Are you taking the piss? The beach cafe in Caister is gone, the old lifeboat station in Hemsby was destroyed, 70' of seawall in cromer was destroyed, the pier wrecked

Have you seen Lowestoft this morning, North Norfolk? No its not as bad as 53 thanks to the new defences but they were over topped in Kings Lynn and Blakeney, Salthouse don't have any new defences in fact the opposite the shingle bank is in managed retreat.

I suppose the fact that Yarmouth high schools were full and sand bags given out was needless panic too.

    Defo agree with this Rich.

My thoughts go out to everybody who has been affected, I spend a lot of time at Hemsby and have donated a few times for the flood defences.

Don't agree CT, Lets put it this way, I never thought i would see the day that cardinalls park in the centre of ipswich flooded. And we got of lightly! Like i have said above, I probably go to Hemsby every other week and walk the dog along the beach to winterton cafe, I can see the difference every single time.

Oi you. Quiet over there or I'll send you to the headmaster's office <laugh>

If I hadn't been kidnapped by you and force fed copious quantities of Pride, I might have been ok <whistle>

I guess better to be prepared rather than not, although the media seems to have gone into over-drive on this one.
this also brings back into debate whether or not to invest further in sea defences
i was up in southwold last year, saw the harbour inn on the news yesterday so made me think about all the businesses along the river there.

I think you misinterpreted what I said to a degree.I am not arguing that there has not been significant damage to property. My point was this scaremongering as regards evacuation.I quite liked the old gor blimey geezer from Jaywick who told them to take a hike.trying to scare old folk into a night sleeping on the floor at a sports centre might seem like fun,but it's not fair.As I said I live three miles from the sea but was targeted due to being in a river flood zone. The river isn't tidal. It goes the other way.

So the railway lines from both Norwich and Ipswich to Lowestoft are flooded which will make my journey home interesting. Live in Kessingland so can let you guys know if there is any flooding there, although usually on a few streets ever get flooded when it is like this.
