It's a good cause just to put that x-factor bullshit away again and piss on Simon Cowells christmas dinner once more. God how I ****ing loved it when RATM got christmas number one I bought the Killing in the name of single about 20 times off different download sites just to add my bit to the huge '**** You!' we gave that arrogant arsewipe.

It's even better this time around that the proceeds are going to the military and are actually helping a good cause.

Hardly a massive up yours is it, if all the proceedings from the RATM number 1 were going to the corperations.

In fact i can't ****in stand Green Day. They're up there with Coldplay and U2 in my hate list.

Much of the money from last years No.1 went to charity too, Rage Against the Machine wouldn't take any of the proceeds and gave it all to Shelter.

I love the way people think Cowell gives two hoots about getting to NUmber 1. All he cares about is sales and I hardly think the RATM buyers were deserting X-Factor. He sells the same, gets the same money and you think he cares about the accolade?

    Amazing.

Still, I was glad it was Number 1 just cos its a better song.

Simon Cowell should of made the biggest ****s list, how did I leave him out, he's a ****ing spineless ****er. I'd sooner go to a tea party with Saddam Hussein, Bin Laden, Gadaffi, that bloke from Zimbabwe, Adolf Hitler and Ken Bates, then have to spend 5 minutes with Simon Cowshit

Why doesn't anyone record proper cheesy Christmas songs anymore?

I see Justin Bieber has re-recorded "all I want for Christmas is you".

On that note, I'm off to get my medication...

On the subject of songs related to Military Charities I don't suppose anyone watched the Military Wives Choir on BBC2. They too are releasing a song for Christmas called "Wherever you are" (its on you tube). Maybe not everyones cup of tea but the words are taken from letters to and from their husbands in Afghanistan, they made the TV series whilst their husbands were out there and the whole thing was just so moving.

In these times of opportunity for the rich and austerity for the poor, surely someone should cover Oliver's Army.

I'd be more than happy with a re-release of Olivers Army, but I'm not sure about the times you've mentioned, I'm currently seeing a lot of the rich becoming the poor.

I wouldn't say there is "opportunity" for the rich. I just think the poor and middle are getting poorer so the gap is widening.

Meh its always the same. They're all as bad as one another, and seeing as the last thing I'll be doing at Christmas is tuning in to listen to the top 20, and couldnt give a rats ass who is number 1, I will be not buying any of the either the x factor pop ****e, or any of the others pretending they're more worthy, when in fact, they're not. They all make money for the big corporates, in much the same and ironic way the arseholes wearing guy fawkes masks were giving a corporation they'd allegedly hate, a **** load of cash.

I heard the 'new single' from Amy Winehouse on the radio today.

It's basically a standard ballad (not bad if you like that sort of thing), but it has sleigh bells running through it.

Call me cynical, but if that isn't just cashing in and making sure it gets played this Christmas and every other Christmas in the future, then I don't know what is.

Greg Lake, The Pogues, The Waitresses and Jonah Louie are where it's at.

All Christmas songs are just for cashing in, the fact is even if one Christmas they don't make the same as the average number 1 over 2-3 Christmases even average Christmas songs will make more than most number 1s and then they're played every Christmas in the future. Studied music technology for 3 years and looking at things like how much different types of music generated was part if the course. Obviously we were taught, if we ever made it in music and we wanted a good guaranteed income for life, to write a couple of Christmas songs.

Not saying there's a problem with a charity cashing in, just that you can't single out one Christmas song as cashing in when essentially that's te reasoning behind them all.
