I'm still dumbfounded that Anelka tried to shrug it off with an "it's for my mate" defence when all footballers seem to communicate via wax crayons on a, seemingly, limitless supply of white vests. West Brom can see the importance of the player in their bid to stay up and so will take little moral stance. The saying that no footballer is bigger than the club is sadly a fallacy and the likes of Suarez, Terry and Anelka are immune to the punishment that their intolerance deserves. I wouldn't know what we'd do in a similar situation (what happened to Remy's case BTW) but reckon, as with all others, the owners would bite their tongue for the 30 pieces of silver that assets and, most importantly for the accountants, the Premership will lavish on the clubs. Fines in proportion to turnover would go a long way. Zoopla perhaps is little more than a noble stand unless it sets a precedent amongst all the corporate backers of clubs.
I hope that Nicolas Anelka get his just deserts. He knew his gesture would provoke debate. And he did it specifically to reach a wider audience. I doubt very much that he was unaware of the anti Semitic overtones. As a sportsman in the public eye that elects to make a gesture on scoring a goal in one of the largest watched global leagues, what does he expect. Time to for Le Grand Sulk to take some responsibility. Another example of a millionaire footballer who is highly sensitive of criticism, but shows scant regard for others.

Ability to make your own judgements and draw your own conclusions probably should be shelved then? Makes life easy I suppose, you don't have to think for yourself, but I think I'll stick with asking questions and deciding for myself. I'll be wrong sometimes, and sometimes have to change my mind when I learn more but I'm prepared to take that risk. Whatever this blokes numerous job titles, sadly this stupid gesture (a repressed Nazi salute) whatever its original intention, has been appropriated as an anti semitic symbol. Those who make it should be expected to justify their views and subjected to public ridicule. And they should certainly not be using their employment as a platform to share these views.
I think if a leading French Jew says something that a French player has done in support of a French comedian isn't offensive to his people, and that it's being taken far too far that I'm more likely to trust his judgement of it than I am to trust the tabloids who are telling me I should be angry.

Nope, I made up my mind and even the other side agrees now. What you are doing is arguing that it should have been a penalty even when both managers agree that it was 100% wasnt a penalty.
So one prominent French Jew quoted as saying that it is not a problem, equates to everybody agreeing? I think you will find that millions of French people are offended by this comedian, and, by extension, Anelka.
